  • Patent number: 8683006
Abstract: A font server is configured to verify that a request for a font file originates with a web page of a web site licensed to use the font file, and, if so, to download the font file to a web browser. Rather than just downloading the font file directly, however, the font server first provides the web browser a script configured to determine information regarding the web browser sufficient for the font server to determine which of a plurality of font files available to the font server to provide to the browser. When the script executes within the browser, the information is gathered and returned to the font server. Thereafter, the font server provides an appropriate font file to the web browser. Preferably, the font file is configured so as to be protected against unauthorized use.

  • Publication number: 20100284739
Abstract: A vehicle arresting device (1) comprises a net (2) of circular or polygonal planform adapted to lie flat on the ground in the path of a vehicle (14) to be arrested, with one or more rows of upwardly-directed spikes (6) attached to the net around its outer periphery. When a vehicle runs over the device, from any relative angle of approach, some of the spikes become imbedded in its front tyres and the net is caused to, wrap around the front wheels, the portion of the net between those wheels being pulled tight under the vehicle so that the tension in the net prevents further rotation of the wheels and the vehicle is brought to a stop. A deployment method for the device is also described where it is dropped in a folded condition from a helicopter or other aircraft or from a road vehicle into the path of a target vehicle and unfolds automatically on the ground.

  • Publication number: 20090279948
Abstract: A barrier adapted to be set up for temporary traffic control comprises a man-portable unit placed on the ground from which a boom, preferably in the form of a reelable tube, can be withdrawn. The boom extends at an oblique angle to the ground in its “down” position and a motor within the ground-standing unit can raise and lower it between that position and an “up” position at a greater angle to the ground in which traffic can pass.
