Publication number: 20240051995Abstract: There is currently a high demand for new therapeutic antibiotics with new mechanisms of action. Disclosed are two small molecules, tryglysin A and B, with novel chemical structures and potent antibiotic activity against a narrow spectrum of bacteria. This narrow spectrum of activity indicates the tryglysins could be working through a novel antibiotic mechanism of action. Due to this narrow spectrum, the tryglysins could be used as highly targeted therapeutics to treat or prevent disease without disturbing other important, “beneficial” bacteria within the human microbiome, which is a great improvement over virtually all other clinically used antibiotics that are broad-spectrum. The tryglysins are potent against several streptococcal pathogens, including Streptococcus pneumonia, the leading cause of pneumonia, and Streptococcus mutans, the primary causative agent of tooth decay and gum disease.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2021Publication date: February 15, 2024Applicant: The Trustees of Princeton UniversityInventors: Mohammad R. Patent number: 10682557Abstract: A golf putter grip comprises a main body extending at least 7 inches, more preferably about 14 inches, from a top to a bottom end, a flat front surface has a width less than 1.75 inches, generally about 1.60 to 1.65 inches, and a shaft receiving bore within the grip extending substantially to the top end, wherein the bore is centered between lateral sides of the grip and the bore is angled relative to the main body's longitudinal centerline extending away from the front surface in the direction toward the bottom end. A putter incorporating this grip yields a better tempo and motion, will neutralize the dominant hand and forearm throughout the stroke, will stabilizes the hands and allow for a quieter grip to aid in reducing the yips, and will reduce the wrist angle at address to relieve arm tension.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2016Date of Patent: June 16, 2020Inventor: John Ambrose

Patent number: 8908968Abstract: Identifying and ensuring object authenticity can occur by identifying an object by acquiring an image of the object, identifying flaws present in or on the object, associating the flaws with respective locations or regions in the image, determining a quality score indicating a condition of the object based at least upon an analysis of the identified flaws, and generating and storing a data record with all of this identifying information. A tag which provides an identifier that links the object to the data record is placed on the object. When authenticity of the object needs to be verified at a later time, the tag identifier is retrieved and used to retrieve the data record. The identifying information can then be compared with the object as it currently appears. If the object as it currently appears corresponds with the identifying information, authenticity is verified. Otherwise, fraud can be suspected.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2010Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Assignee: Movie Poster Grading and Registry Company, LLCInventors: Todd Alan Spoor, John Ambrose Mulcahy, Scott Stanaway McCrae, Kevin Francis Cassidy

Patent number: 8504309Abstract: A condition of an object is evaluated with improved uniformity as compared to conventional schemes. For example, flaw types and severities associated with flaws potentially present in a certain category of objects are predefined, along with rules for evaluating the condition of objects of the certain category based at least on the flaw types and severities. In this manner, any user, expert or not, can uniformly evaluate the condition of an object merely by identifying and inputting the flaws according to the predefined flaw types and severities. In addition, the predefined flaw types, severities, and rules can be changed by a user or otherwise at any time, and different sets of predefined flaw types, severities, and rules can be generated for each of a plurality of different categories of objects, thereby providing a fully configurable and flexible evaluation system.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2010Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Movie Poster Grading and Registry Company, LLCInventors: Todd Alan Spoor, John Ambrose Mulcahy, Scott Stanaway McCrae, Kevin Francis Cassidy

Publication number: 20070042012Abstract: A Game Attracting Substance and a Method for Applying such substance comprised of a container, a solution of game attractant scent in a non-liquid sprayable foam or gel and a release mechanism whereby the contents of the container, the non-liquid foam or get containing the game attracting scent solution can be applied to a substrate. The same attracting substance is formulated such that a non-liquid three-dimensional mound of such substance can be applied to the top or underside of a horizontal substrate or a vertical substrate and thus be protected from environmental elements and yet exposed to air currents such as to effect disbursal of the scent. The device and the method of application solve problems existing with the present state of the art in that the scent containing medium as applied to the substrate is completely free of contamination by the hunter in that the hunter never comes into contact with the scent containing medium.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2005Publication date: February 22, 2007Inventors: John Ambrose, John Ambrose

Publication number: 20050085736Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a myocardial infarction including a housing and a plurality of electrodes extending from the housing. Each of the plurality of electrodes is placed at a predetermined position on a body of a user for obtaining data representing bodily activity. A processor is positioned within the housing and connected to the plurality of electrodes. The processor analyzes the data obtained by the plurality of electrodes to form a baseline ECG and records the formed ECG. A means for storing the data representing the baseline ECG value is connected to the processor. The apparatus further includes a means for notifying a user of a myocardial infarction. Upon positioning the plurality of electrodes on the body of the user subsequently to storing the formed ECG, the plurality of electrodes obtain data representing current bodily activity. The processor then compares the current data to the stored.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2003Publication date: April 21, 2005Inventors: John Ambrose, John Coppola, Mary DeVoe

Publication number: 20040107735Abstract: An optical fiber preform includes a core rod and an overclad tube having an open, distal end dimensioned to enter the mouth of a vertical fiber draw furnace. A plug is fixed in the region of the distal end of the tube, and the core rod is disposed axially inside the overclad tube so that a distal end of the rod is restrained from downward movement by the plug as the tube enters and descends into a hot zone of the draw furnace. The distal end of the tube is heated in the furnace hot zone until the tube and the plug soften and fuse with one another. The tube then collapses onto the core rod to produce a drop from which an optical fiber having desired properties may be drawn.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2002Publication date: June 10, 2004Applicant: Fitel USA Corp.Inventors: Joseph P. Fletcher, Thomas Miller, John Ambrose Rennell, Don Hartman Smith, Peter Bauer, Norbert Cibis, Ralph Sattmann, Rene Sowa

Patent number: 6267689Abstract: A golf putter has most of its weight in the upper half of the putter head so the hitting force against a ball is directed horizontally, reducing lift on the ball and causing the ball to roll sooner. A rectangular slot is formed through the center of the putter head, immediately behind the putter face, and is the same width as the diameter of a golf ball so the edge of the ball and the sides of the rectangular slot are integrated by the player's eye to create an alignment used to aim the ball to the hole. The putter shaft and hand grip are stiff to minimize bending action upon contact with the ball. The present grip on the shaft has a generally square cross-section, allowing for a better and consistent fit in the player's hand. The putter preferably incorporates a solid brass head, and also is designed with most of its weight in its upper half to produce a high center of gravity, while conforming to USGA rules.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1999Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Inventor: John A.
