Abstract: An approach is provided for automatic loading of applications, including receiving user identification corresponding to a device. Data is also received, which indicates a set of one or more relevant applications that are a subset of multiple available applications. The set is automatically selected based on the user identification and an application favored by a contact associated with the user. Installation is initiated of an application of the selected set within the device. In some embodiments, access is provided to a social service via a network. The social service includes data that indicates multiple users, contacts among the users, and applications favored by the users. Access is also provided to receive at the social service a request message indicating user identification for a first user at a first network node. A message indicating a relevant application based on an application favored by a contact of the first user is transmitting to the first network node.

Abstract: An approach is provided for sharing a self-created account for storing assets. An asset sharing platform determines at least one account for storing a representation of one or more associated assets. The at least one account is a self-created account associated with at least one device. The asset sharing platform further causes at least in part, a sharing of the at least one account with at least one other device to enable collective access to the at least one account by the at least one device and the at least one other device with substantially equal rights.

Abstract: An approach is provided for mid-service sharing and includes selecting an icon in a display on an apparatus. The icon represents an application, such as a network resource, in a particular state of interaction with the apparatus. Sending a message is initiated. The message specifies icon data for presenting the icon within a different user device. According to another embodiment, an approach includes receiving a message that specifies state data for a first user device to access a network resource in a state of interaction with a second user device. A media stream is transmitted to the first user device. The media stream is synchronized with a media stream being transmitted to the second user device. In some embodiments, once a collaborative session is evoked, the action of either user augments the state presented on other user's device, for the duration of the joint action.
