Patent number: 10122117Abstract: An electrical connector and system for connecting to a terminal post. The electrical connector includes a housing body, a contact and a locking release member. The housing body includes a post receiving passage for receiving the terminal post therein. The contact is provided in the post receiving passage and is positioned about the circumference of the post receiving passage. The contact will make an electrical engagement with a terminal post inserted into the post receiving passage regardless of the orientation of the terminal post with respect to the contact. The electrical connector which prevents the improper mating of the connector to the post, prevents unwanted rotation of the connector, provides a visual indication that the proper connection is secured and provides a secondary lock to ensure that unwanted unmating of the connector does not occur.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2016Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: TE CONNECTIVITY CORPORATIONInventors: Keith Edwin Miller, John Anthony Fulponi, Lawrence Se-Jun Oh, John Louis McKibben, Dustin Carson Belack, Lynn Robert Sipe, Robert Mulfinger

Patent number: 7481676Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes a conductive shell and a connector having a dielectric housing disposed within the shell. The housing includes a conductive outer surface. A conductive member is disposed between the shell and the housing. The conductive member and the shell cooperate to provide a ground path from the conductive outer surface of the housing. The conductive outer surface of the connector housing comprises a conductive coating applied to the outer surface of the housing. The conductive member includes a plurality of flexible tabs that electrically engage the conductive outer surface of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2006Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Assignee: Tyco Electronics CorporationInventors: Richard Paul Walter, Brent David Yohn, John Anthony Fulponi

Patent number: 6273742Abstract: An electrical connector (10) includes a housing having a plurality of contacts (24) mounted therein and at least one screw member (40) attached to the housing for securing the housing to a mating connector (100). The screw member (40) includes a head (42) with a ratchet (50) disposed along a forward end (48) thereof. The housing includes at least one protrusion (54) adapted to engage the ratchet (50) of the screw member. The housing further includes at least one spring member (26) adapted to provide axial compression between the ratchet (50) and the housing protrusion (54) to assure the ratchet (50) remains engaged to the protrusion (54) thereby preventing the screw member (40) from inadvertently becoming loosened.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: August 14, 2001Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Lou Castagna, John Anthony Fulponi
