  • Patent number: 7190473
Abstract: A stand-alone printing apparatus for transferring one or more digital photographs captured by a digital device to a printable medium. The printing apparatus includes an input member for receiving the digital photographs from a source and image processing for generating an image corresponding to each of the digital photographs. A graphical user interface with video display is integrated within the printing apparatus and includes a plurality of different states in which to preview the digital photograph images, select photographs for printing, and preview a printed page of selected photographs.

  • Patent number: 6704033
Abstract: In a method of providing a control interface for a digital device, a plurality of divider images are displayed so that one of the divider images appears to be on top of the plurality of divider images. Each divider image has a top edge, an opposite bottom edge, a left edge and an opposite right edge and each divider image displays control information relating to a different controllable feature of the digital device. A tab extends from the left edge of each divider image and each tab displays text that describes the control information displayed on a corresponding divider image. A pull-down menu that provides a plurality of desired results relating to a selected controllable feature of the digital device is displayed and input indicating a selection of a desired result by the user is received from a user. A plurality of instructions that indicate which divider image should be selected by the user to achieve the selected desired result and how to achieve the selected desired result are displayed to the user.

  • Patent number: 6654955
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling existing application programs for operation in speech recognition environments. Existing applications programs written with a dynamically linked library or object library, with no speech recognition capability, are capable of accepting input from a speech recognition without modification. An alternate dynamic library or object library is provided that supports the same interface or objects used by the original program. The alternate library is written so that it is aware of and receives input from the speech recognition system. The alternate library passes the input to the application program using the existing interfaces.

  • Patent number: 6631463
Abstract: A method and apparatus for patching a problematic instruction within a pipelined processor in a data processing system is presented. A plurality of instructions are fetched, and the plurality of instructions are matched against at least one match condition to generate a matched instruction. The match conditions may include matching the opcode of an instruction, the pre-decode bits of an instruction, a type of instruction, or other conditions. A matched instruction may be marked using a match bit that accompanies the instruction through the instruction pipeline. The matched instruction is then replaced with an internal opcode or internal instruction that causes the instruction scheduling unit to take a special software interrupt. The problematic instruction is then patched through the execution of a set of instructions that cause the desired logical operation of the problematic instruction.

  • Patent number: 6091414
Abstract: A system and method for automatically adjusting priority assigned to execution of applications, tasks, or workspaces. A display of visual indicators is provided, corresponding to a differing task. By selecting an indicator, priority given to task execution is altered as the task is moved into a focused state as a result of such selection. A window manager between a server and application registers in the server adjusted state of a particular application as either in focus or cleared. An application, through its corresponding window-id, detects from the server that an adjustment in priority is desired. A mapping function such as a lookup table maps the window id to a corresponding process-id which is then utilized by the application in a process table. The information from the window manager passed through the display server is utilized by the application to adjust its own priority relative to the remaining applications in the operating system's process table. • Patent number: 5867160
Abstract: A system and method are provided for automatically adjusting priority assigned to execution of applications, tasks, or workspaces to thereby improve performance relative to other such applications, tasks or workspaces in a computerized multitasking graphical user interface environment. A display of a plurality of visual indicators is provided, each of which corresponds to a differing task. By selection of one of the indicators, the priority given to execution of the task is altered as the task is thereby moved into a focused state as a result of such selection. A window manager interposed between a server and application registers in the server the adjusted state of a particular application as being either set in focus or cleared. An application may detect from the server a window-id corresponding to the application for which an adjustment in priority is desired.

  • Patent number: 5745718
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for simultaneously displaying and manipulating the contents of a container using a folder bar widget by displaying a plurality of tabs within the folder bar widget, each tab representing a sub-container of the container thereafter displaying a menu identifying the fist contents (e.g., computer objects) of a first sub-container in response to a pointing device activating a first tab representing the first sub-container. Finally, concurrently displaying a second menu identifying second contents (e.g., computer objects) of a second sub-container in response to the pointing device activating a second tab representing the second sub-container. Therefore, the first contents and the second contents are concurrently displayed.
