  • Patent number: 8140252
Abstract: A display system and method for a display, in real-time, of a confidence display, displaying the protected airspace associated with a projected trajectory of a first aircraft and the protected airspace associated with a projected trajectory of at least one additional aircraft during a phase of flight. The system processes data representative of a phase of aircraft flight of a first aircraft and at least one additional aircraft and determines the protected airspace associated with a projected trajectory of each aircraft based at least in part on the processed data. An image representative of the determined protected airspace of each aircraft is displayed on the display system as a confidence display.

  • Patent number: 8090483
Abstract: A system for displaying throttle settings to an aircraft operator includes, but is not limited to, a display unit, a data storage unit configured to store aircraft and airport data, an operator input unit configured to receive thrust related information from the aircraft operator, an aircraft sensor configured to detect an aircraft condition, and a processor. The processor is communicatively connected to each of the above components and is configured to obtain therefrom the aircraft data, the airport data, the thrust related information, and the aircraft condition. The processor is also configured to calculate a first thrust requirement based on the aircraft data, the airport data, the thrust related information, and the aircraft condition, and to provide commands to the display unit to display either the first thrust requirement.

  • Publication number: 20110264437
Abstract: A system for translating an English language message into another language includes, but is not limited to, a data storage unit configured to store an English language phrase and a corresponding other language phrase, a display unit configured to display text in English and in the other language and a processor that is operatively coupled to the data storage unit and to the display unit. The processor is configured to obtain an English language message, to retrieve the English language phrase from the data storage unit, to compare the English language message with the English language phrase, to obtain the other language phrase if the English language message is substantially the same as the English language phrase, and to command the display unit to display the other language phrase in the other language.

  • Publication number: 20110193725
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for displaying a symbol that is representative of an aircraft in flight. The method includes, but is not limited to, the steps of detecting an attitude of the aircraft and a view direction of an operator of the aircraft, and displaying with a near-to-eye display unit a three-dimensional symbol in an exocentric manner. The three-dimensional symbol is displayed to appear to be oriented in a manner that is representative of the attitude of the aircraft. The three-dimensional symbol is further displayed to rotate in a manner that corresponds with the view direction.

  • Publication number: 20110106447
Abstract: A system for providing a pilot with a visual depiction of a terrain includes, but is not limited to, a data storage unit for storing terrain data, a position determination unit for determining a position of an aircraft, a near to eye display unit worn by the pilot for displaying visual images and for determining a view direction of the pilot. A processing unit is communicatively connected to the data storage unit, to the position determination unit and to the near to eye display unit. The processing unit controls the near to eye display unit to display a three dimensional representation of a viewed terrain region that includes a depiction of the terrain overlaying the terrain within the viewed terrain region and is graphically differentiated to correspond with an altitude of the terrain within the viewed terrain region. The depiction of the terrain is at least partially transparent.

  • Publication number: 20100191467
Abstract: A flight display system is provided for deployment on a host aircraft including at least one obstacle-tracking data source. In one embodiment, the flight display system includes a display device and a controller. The controller is configured to be coupled to the obstacle-tracking data source and to receive data therefrom indicating the current position of a navigational obstacle. The controller is operably coupled to the display device and is configured to generate thereon an obstacle position indicator (OPI) graphic indicating the current position of the navigational obstacle relative to the current field of view of the display device.
