  • Publication number: 20120254804
Abstract: A personal wireless navigation system operable on wireless phone devices provides a platform for empowering a merchant-paid search. Performance of a navigation functionality in a personal wireless navigation system is higher and more comparable and competitive with portable navigation devices and in-car navigation systems, and the search capability is comparable and competitive with the most popular web search engines. A user interface (UI) and look and feel of the personal wireless navigation system is provided which is enhanced so that users do not simply want to use the product—they covet it. The personal wireless navigation system may be constructed such that a subset of it with fewer features and functions can be productized, marketed and deployed to users.

  • Patent number: 8230631
Abstract: An adjustable display frame has first and second U-shaped frame elements having aligned free end surfaces that abut to form a small display frame and are separated by first and second inert elements urged by a spring to provide a large display frame. Each U-shaped frame element has a pair of longitudinal slots which receive heads of headed studs projecting from a base disposed behind the frame elements, wherein the frame elements are secured to the base and are capable of sliding on the base from a first position, to provide the small frame, to a second position so as to provide the large frame. The inserts are slidable on the base inboard of the U-shaped frame elements and are spring biased so as to move between the free ends of the U-shaped frame elements when the U-shaped frame elements are separated by being pulled apart. Stops are provided for arresting motion of the inserts to align the inserts with the free ends of the U-shaped frame elements after the inserts have been pushed outwardly by the spring.

  • Publication number: 20110222177
Abstract: A passive suspension for a bimorph or other self-deforming mirror includes elements, e.g., of herringbone shape, extending between an edge of the mirror substrate and a support structure. The elements have portions directed transversely (e.g. obliquely) relative to a direction of relative movement between the mirror edge and the support structure, so as to accommodate the movement by bending.

  • Publication number: 20060049980
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for forming an image from millimetre waves. A field of view scanned using two geometrically orthogonal, intersecting copolarized fan beams (110, 120) to receive millimetre wave radiation. The received millimetre wave radiation from said fan beams are then cross-correlated (250, 650). Also, a method and antenna (400, 610) for receiving millimetre wave radiation are disclosed. The antenna includes first and second fan beam antennas (410, 420) for receiving millimetre wave radiation and a filter (430, 440) for rotating polarization of incident millimetre wave radiation through 90 degrees received by the second fan beam antenna (410). The respective first and second beams (110, 120) intersect and are co-polarized and geometrically orthogonal to each other.

  • Publication number: 20050120119
Abstract: A system and method for discovering and connecting to a preferred remote Bluetooth device by a local Bluetooth device. An inquiry scan cache and a page scan cache are maintained. The inquiry scan cache is updated by way of a periodic inquiry scan. The page scan cache is refreshed by way of an attempt to connect to the preferred remote Bluetooth device. Periodically, and more frequently than the periodic inquiry scan, a list of available remote Bluetooth devices is formed from entries in the inquiry scan cache concatenated with each entry in the page scan cache for which a page scan is successful. In one embodiment, the page scan cache holds a finite number of entries, and an expiration policy is applied to each added entry. In another embodiment, the inquiry scan cache is also updated when a remote Bluetooth device attempts to connect to the local Bluetooth device.

  • Publication number: 20050053959
Abstract: A chemically inducible gene expression system is described. A chimeric gene having a first sequence comprising a promoter and a regulator polypeptide is linked with a second sequence comprising a promoter and a coding or non-coding sequence. Expression of the target gene of the second sequence is controlled by the regulator polypeptide which is acted upon by an inducer. The inducer is a chemical compound, such as OHP, which acts upon the OHP responsive regulator polypeptide, which can be obtained from Rhodococcus sp. V49. Various domain regions and complementary response elements are also described.
