  • Publication number: 20250381057
Abstract: A medical appliance is configured with material that creates a fluid barrier with interior walls of a stoma on a patient. These configurations may include an annular disc with a stem on one side that inserts into the stoma. The material may reside on the stem, for example, in the form of a replaceable hollow tube that covers at least part of the stem. On the other side, a rotatable spigot inserts into a recess. The rotatable spigot has a first position that forms a flow path through the stem and the annular disc to allow waste to drain from the stoma. In one implementation, the rotatable spigot can couple with a collection device that receives the waste. The patient can return the rotatable spigot to a second position to prevent flow of waste.

  • Publication number: 20250204959
Abstract: Spinal curvature modulation systems, methods and related devices and instrumentation are disclosed, which include a flexible tether, a tether tensioning unit and bone anchors for the flexible tether that allow the tether to be secured across multiple vertebrae in a region of treatment. When the flexible tether is attached to multiple vertebrae, it can be used to correct spinal deformities. Tension in the flexible tether is adjustable transcutaneously without invasive surgical procedures by use of remotely driven actuators, such as a magnet-driven motor, or by a small tool insertable through a small incision. Disclosed systems and methods thus allow for multiple adjustments of tether tension, and spinal curvature, over time without repeated, highly invasive, spinal surgeries.

  • Publication number: 20230072368
Abstract: A method for updating a treatment plan. The treatment plan is associated with a user using a treatment apparatus to perform the treatment plan. The method includes receiving first data associated with a first diagnosis of the user. The method includes generating, based on the first data, an initial treatment plan to be performed on the treatment apparatus by the user. The method includes receiving second data associated with a first attribute of the user. The method includes generating, via an artificial intelligence engine, a machine learning model trained to generate an updated treatment plan based on the initial treatment plan and the second data.

  • Publication number: 20220346772
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for endoscopically retracting a target tissue. The device includes a first shaft and a second shaft slidably coupled thereto. An internal member extends in a transverse direction from the first shaft and is configured for advancement through a penetration in the target tissue to atraumatically engage a distal surface of the target tissue after being advanced therethrough. A pair of external members extend from the second shaft generally parallel to the transverse direction. The external members are spaced apart and are configured to atraumatically engage a proximal surface of the target tissue when the internal member is moved longitudinally relative to the external members. The internal member applies traction to the target tissue when retracted past the pair of external members, which apply counter-traction to the target tissue on opposing lateral sides of the internal member, to re-shape the target tissue and enable subsequent suture placement.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for performing catheter-based procedures in the heart. In specific embodiments a procedural catheter is introduced into the mediastinum from a suprasternal access site. The procedural catheter is passed through a wall of the heart, preferably at an extrapericardial location on the atrial dome. The procedural catheter is used to perform a procedure in the heart such as mitral valve repair or replacement, using remote catheter visualization techniques.
