  • Patent number: 5544854
Abstract: A remote handle operating mechanism for a cut-out cock located on the back side of a pipe bracket on which the service and emergency portions of a railroad brake control valve device are mounted at the front side thereof. A push-pull rod extends from the cut-out cock actuating lever via an opening in a detent bracket to the front of the pipe bracket to facilitate operation of the cut-out cock. A locking rod affixed to the push-pull rod co-acts with the detent bracket to latch the push-pull rod in either one of two positions corresponding to the open and closed positions of the cut-out cock to prevent inadvertent operation of the cut-out cock.

  • Patent number: 5538332
Abstract: A piston valve assembly in which a piston member is outfitted with a plastic insulator between the metal piston member and a cover with which the piston member is otherwise engageable in one case and between the metal piston member and a valve actuator stem with which the piston member is otherwise engageable in another case, thereby preventing metal-to-metal contact therebetween and consequent metallic abrasion and pulverization.

  • Patent number: 5350222
Abstract: A railway car vent valve device having a nullifier valve that is selectively operable to disable the vent valve device during a single car test procedure in which the service stability of the car control valve is checked. The nullifier valve is automatically reset when the car brake pipe pressure drops below a predetermined value, such as occurs when the single car test apparatus is disconnected from the car brake pipe following completion of the single car test procedure.

  • Patent number: 5333941
Abstract: A spool type valve arrangement in which a booster spring is employed to overcome static friction of the spool valve O-rings and thereby assure prompt actuation of the spool valve member. The arrangement is such that the booster spring is only active through a limited distance of travel from release position toward application position, this limited distance of spool valve travel being selected so as to occur prior to any transition of the port connections controlled by the spool valve. In this manner, the spool valve return spring force need not be increased in order to reset the spool valve sufficiently to reestablish the original spool valve port connections.

  • Patent number: 5072913
Abstract: A spring loaded locking handle assembly for an angle cock or the like wherein the helical windings of a torsion type spring are mounted on a fulcrum pin about which the handle proper of a two-piece, locking style handle assembly is pivotally connected to the handle socket. One leg of the torsion spring is fixed to the socket via a pilot hole therein and an aligned index hole in the fulcrum pin to properly locate and secure the fulcrum pin in place. The other leg of the torsion spring bears against the handle proper under tension to positively maintain the handle member in its locked position and to prevent accidental operation of the angle cock.

  • Patent number: 5035582
Abstract: A fluid governor including an electric motor for driving a fluid compressor and causing a build-up of pressure in a storage reservoir, pressure switch responsive to the pressure in the storage reservoir, electromagnetic solenoid valve connected to the pressure switch, a pneumatically operated electrical contact controller pneumatically connected to the magnetic solenoid valve for causing the pneumatically operated electrical contact controller to be connected to the storage reservoir when the pressure in the storage reservoir exceeds a first predetermined value to deenergize the electric motor and for causing the pneumatically operated electrical contact controller to be connected to atmosphere when the pressure in the storage reservoir drops to a second predetermined value to energize the electric motor.
