  • Patent number: 5987736
Abstract: An apparatus for assembling copper-caul-copper elements to be used in the fabrication of printed circuit boards. The apparatus comprises a roll section which has two rolls of copper that provides the rolled copper sheets to a cutting section. The cutting section includes two clamp mechanisms which clamps the two rolled copper sheets and a cutting apparatus that cuts the two rolled copper sheets to produce two cut sheets of copper. The apparatus includes a grasping device that reaches into the cutting section to partially extract the rolled copper sheets prior to cutting. The apparatus also includes a carriage section and a caul supply section. After the rolled copper sheets have been cut, the grasping device extracts the copper sheets and positions these sheets in the carriage assembly as the caul supply section is simultaneously supplying the caul to the carriage.

  • Patent number: 5972150
Abstract: Disclosed is a stabilizer block for stabilizing the position of a lamination book when being compressed between the platens of a lamination press. The stabilizer block includes a slide member that is slidably positioned within an outer housing so that the height of the stabilizer block reduces in response to pressure. A plurality of magnets are positioned within the stabilizer block to secure the stabilizer block to a carrier tray. In use, one or more stabilizer blocks are positioned around the periphery of the lamination book to act as walls that prevent the layers in the lamination book from undesirably moving when the lamination book is being pressed.

  • Patent number: 4857135
Abstract: A composite board press is provided with a single set of platen supporting rods for supporting and loosely guiding a plurality of platens, the heights of which are dually adjustable. The invention also includes a method of laminating a composite to form a printed circuit board by applying heat and pressure in which the pressure is applied at points exterior to the area of the composite and in which the press is repeatedly opened and closed in the presence of an evacuated environment when the resin in the composite is liquid.
