Publication number: 20240225653Abstract: An occlusion device includes a balloon and a catheter. The occlusion device is configured to allow blood to pass through the balloon, instead of around the balloon. By allowing the blood to pass through the balloon, constant traction against the vessel wall is achieved, regardless of flow rate, thereby mitigating distal migration. The balloon includes an orifice to allow blood flow through the balloon. The orifice is independent of the diameter of the vessel, therefore the effect of the diameter of the vessel changing during the procedure will not affect the flow rate of blood. The occlusion device enables finer titration of blood flow by varying the size of the orifice when compared to conventional solutions.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2022Publication date: July 11, 2024Applicant: CCJ MEDICAL DEVICES LLCInventors: Colin T. BRAHMSTEDT, John B. HOLCOMB, Christopher J. MURPHY

Patent number: 11551816Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide a system, method, and computer program product for providing a triage classification system. The triage classification system uses a computer model that is developed using historical patient data. The developed computer model is applied to collected patient attribute data from a patient in a pre-hospital setting to generate a triage category. Based on the generated triage category, health care professionals can take desired actions, such as transporting the patient to a facility matching the generated triage category.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2019Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Assignee: Boards of Regents of the University of Texas SystemInventors: Hari Radhakrishnan, Michelle Scerbo, John B. Holcomb, Charles E. Wade

Publication number: 20170073736Abstract: Sequence specific DNA amplification and analysis techniques are provided. In some aspects, methods of the embodiments comprise amplifying sequence from two regions of a target sequence in the presence of a blocking oligonucleotide (e.g., such as a phosphorothioate-containing oligonucleotide) that hybridizes to the target sequence between the two regions. In some specific embodiments, a method is provided for detecting bacteria (such as detecting gram-positive or gram-negative bacteria) in a biological sample using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2016Publication date: March 16, 2017Inventors: Douglas Bryan LITWIN, Heidi B.
