Abstract: Waterbed mattress and corner structure in which the mattress has walls of film material defining a chamber for holding water, with a cornerpiece substantially thicker and tougher than the film material joined to the film material and forming a corner of the mattress. An insert is disposed in the chamber for reducing wave action in the water and is retained in position by a tether. In some disclosed embodiments, the tether is connected to the cornerpiece, and in other disclosed embodiments, it is connected to other portions of the mattress walls.

Abstract: Fiber-filled waterbed mattress and method of draining the same. A drainage manifold is positioned beneath a wave dampening fibrous insert to direct water toward a drain valve, and air is admitted into the mattress to replace water which is removed and to promote the drainage of water from the spaces between the fibers.

Abstract: Waterbed corner structure and method in which a cornerpiece is formed as a monolithic structure with a relatively thick base plate and relatively large ridges projecting from the front surface of the base plate. The base plate has a peripheral sealing area which is affixed by heat sealing to the walls of the mattress to form the corner, and the base plate is formed of a material which is pliant enough to conform to the contour of the mattress and tough enough to resist puncturing. The ridges help to keep bedsheets in place on the mattress.

Abstract: A coupling for filling and draining a waterbed comprises a tube for insertion into the male-threaded filler neck of a waterbed valve, and two female-threaded nuts rotatably mounted on the tube for connection to a garden hose and the male-threaded fill neck of the waterbed. There is a plurality of fill and drain openings through the wall of the portion of the tube inserted into the fill neck.
