  • Patent number: 5944509
Abstract: The method disclosed herein relates to sculpting an image on a wax article such as a candle. The sculpting is done by pressure blasting entrained cutting grit through a mask or a sequence of masks. If a sequence of masks is sued to form the sculpted image, a sequence of colored pigments are entrained in the blast to impart different colors to the part of the image exposed by each mask in the sequence. A wax article of manufacture is produced having a concave sculpted surface with embedded colored cutting grit occupying predetermined portions of the image.

  • Patent number: 4153007
Abstract: A layered wax taper candle having a centrally disposed wick in which the wax and the layers is disposed in a streaked wood-grain like arrangement. Apparatus for fabricating the taper candles includes a rotating table driven in a horizontal plane by a driving motor. Wick holders are disposed in spaced relation near the periphery of the table so that they are driven in a rotary path to pass through a pouring station also located at the periphery of the table. Pouring spouts are located at the pouring station for directing a stream of liquid wax to flow therefrom. The stream of liquid wax has opposing lateral flow direction components therein. A combination recovery sump and liquid wax storage container is located below the pouring point to retrieve liquid wax emitting therefrom. A submerged pump is in the container to urge the liquid wax from the container through a conduit to the spouts at the pouring station.

  • Patent number: 4054636
Abstract: Round, pillar or block type candles are fabricated by extending a wick centrally through a candle mold, initially forming a wax shell on the surface of the mold having one open end, filling the wax shell with powdered wax, and sealing the open end of the wax shell to contain the powdered wax therein. A candle is thus formed which may have a colored or scented exterior shell with a powdered wax interior and which will burn in a manner which facilitates the formation of "flowering sides" or "angel wings.
