  • Patent number: 6080925
Abstract: An electronic device in the nature of a hand-held calculator, for illustrating on an active tablature display area, simulating a guitar fingerboard, chord shapes and scale patterns across a full twelve frets is provided. The device comprises a number of manually operable basic chord and key information dials for input selections. A microcontroller means is electronically associated with the dials and the LED's, and upon actuation, the microcontroller means searches for scale and associated finger position information corresponding to the tonality requirements of the input selections, and displays that information by way of illuminating means in the appropriate areas of the active tablature display.

  • Patent number: 4720096
Abstract: A novel device to be used in performing chest exercises is disclosed. It comprises two interconnected levers to which standard weight plates may be attached. A torsional spring provides resistance to the bringing together of the free ends of the levers. To use the device, a person, after affixing suitable weight plates to the device, lies on his back and grips the levers near their free ends. He then pushes the device upwardly in a bench-press type motion, and forces his hands together against the resistance of the spring. The novel U-shaped frame is of use in other standard exercises such as squatting movement, calf raises, bent over bows, and shrugs.

  • Patent number: 4625960
Abstract: An exercise device designed to exercise the inner and outer thigh and hip areas, namely, the adductor-abductor muscles. A pair of knee rests are operably connected to separate air cylinders and a new valve module is provided which adjusts the amount of air within each air cylinder thus bearing the amount of resistance of the exercise. The device is particularly suitable for use in the prevention and rehabilitation of groin injuries and provides for gradual stretching and restoration of the normal range of motion as well as strength. The device is based on the principle of the use of air as the resistance medium and uses no auxiliary fluid supply.

  • Patent number: 4601467
Abstract: This invention relates to a new valve module which is particularly suitable for use in an exercise device. The valve module comprises a housing, at least one entrance conduit to allow air to enter the valve module, at least one exit conduit to allow air to exit from the valve module and a pair of valves to control the flow of air through the module. The module is particularly suitable in a variety of exercise devices used in the field of muscle development, exercise and rehabilitation. These devices including the novel module allow for isometric, concentric and eccentric contractions and allow for differing velocities of exercise movement. These devices may be manufactured and sold for home use and require no auxiliary fluid supply source and are completely self contained.
