    Abstract: A climbing deterrence device is attached to a vertical ladder leading to a water tank or the like. The device is configured to prevent unauthorized people from climbing the ladder and obtaining access to the tank or other structure to which it is attached. The device comprises a cage made of expanded metal and assembled from a plurality pieces that substantially encircle a conventional ladder in such a way that the device cannot be crawled over or through without unlocking a door which normally closes a climbing path through the device.
