  • Patent number: 4028893
Abstract: An open cycle energy conversion system adaptable for use with, inter alia, solar collectors and other sources of available heat for increasing the temperature of a moving gas and employing a substantially vertically positioned gas expanding column comprising an endless arrangement of cups journaled for movement in a closed path in a liquid medium in the column for trapping the heated gas inside a succession of the cups inverted at the bottom of the column and displacing at least a part of the liquid in the cups, thereby providing a buoyancy force on the cups causing them to rise in the column exerting a rotating force on the endless arrangement of cups. The trapped gas is released at the top of the liquid in the column to be exhausted to atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4025793
Abstract: Disclosed is a radiation sensitive detector element or array and process for fabricating same wherein conductive patterns are formed on both sides of a selected radiation sensitive material. These patterns have aligned openings or discontinuities therein which define the radiation sensitive elements of the array. One of the metallization patterns is bonded via a suitable epoxy material to an insulating substrate material, and the other metallization pattern merges into electrical contact with the one metallization pattern at an electrical contact pad remote from the radiation sensitive material. Therefore, wires may be bonded to the contact pad without exerting pressure on the radiation sensitivematerial, and a good strong series electrical connection is made to the exposed radiation sensitive material by the one or lower metallization pattern.

  • Patent number: 4002321
Abstract: An arrangement for one or more tiltable drums that may be used in conjunction with cranes or other hoisting devices to overcome fleet angle limitations and controls the point of cross-over and reversal of the winding of the running line due to fleet angle limitations of the line when the load bearing blocks are brought near their high limit.
