Abstract: Cosmetic compositions and methods of decreasing sebum production and/or pore size by contacting skin with a hair growth inhibitor, including polyamine derivatives and/or analogs; DFMO, N-acetyl cysteines; neutralized salts of a non-hydroxy C2-C40 dicarboxylic acids, preferably malonate salts; and mixtures thereof. Additional sebum and/or pore size reducing agents, such as carboxyalkylates of branched alcohols and/or ethoxylates thereof, cerulenin, triclosan, ?-methylene-?-butyrolactone, and EGCG, as well as mixtures thereof and analogs thereof, may be included in the inventive compositions and methods.

Abstract: Disclosed are extracts of Nigrospora sphaerica as cosmetic skin benefit agents, preferably as skin lightening agents alone or in combination with other skin benefit agents and together with a cosmetic vehicle. The inventive extracts, compositions and methods have effective skin lightening properties, may be easier to deliver to the skin, and are commercially available or cost-effective and available in nature.

The invention further relates to a cosmetic method of identifying sebum production inhibiting actives comprising contacting the active with FAS and detecting a reduction in sebum amount production in sebocytes.

Abstract: Cosmetic skin care methods and compositions containing methyl-branched esters. The inventive compositions provide control of sebum secretion from sebocytes, improved oil control and improved skin feel, prevent shine and stickiness, while also. providing anti-aging benefits which results in reduced appearance of wrinkles and aged skin, improved skin color, treatment of photoaged skin, improvement in skin's radiance and clarity and finish, and an overall healthy and youthful appearance of the skin.
