  • Patent number: 10636177
Abstract: A method of creating watercolor images from a source image may include some or all of: scaling down and lightening the source image; converting the lightened image to a single channel grayscale image; blending a noise pattern with the lightened image to add random jitter; overlaying an edge detection map to produce an edge buffered control image; determining a main set of colors in the source image: determining boundaries for each region where the main set of colors appear; coloring in multiple passes using one color at a time, with a diffusion of water technique emulating wet-on-wet watercoloring; coloring each of the main set of colors, by coloring from a light to dark order; enhancing the edges of the regions to model the areas where a watercolor artist would maintain separation; and compositing to add sedimentation texture; flocculation texture; a drawing layer; and a paper texture pattern.

  • Patent number: 9813614
Abstract: A computer program product includes instructions for a processor to perform a method of improving image structure and coherence, and/or for simplification/stylization. The method includes inputting the image, by: scanning the image; image capture using a camera; and/or image creation using a computer. Multi-channel images are converted into a single-channel image, which is separated into a first image component—the high spatial frequencies, and a second component image—the low spatial frequencies. The first and second component images are each formed by filtering to remove frequencies outside of respective upper and lower threshold frequencies. A gain multiplier is applied to the filtered first and second component images to control detail amplification. The first and second component images are each blurred at the respective upper and lower threshold frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5613971
Abstract: A bone drill guide having at least a first arm slidable within a bore of the body of the drill guide and a ratchet mechanism for locking the first arm and the first bore. The ratchet mechanism includes teeth on the first arm and a pawl biased along a first axis and having a continuous engagement edge for engaging the teeth of the first arm for any angular orientation of the pawl about the first axis. The continuous engagement edge is a curve in a plane transverse to the first axis for providing a substantially renewable point contact with the teeth. The recess includes side walls tapered towards the engagement edge to allow a narrow contact at the engagement edge and re-enforce face walls to absorb the axial forces of the guide.
