  • Publication number: 20080293396
Abstract: Mobile device based communication sessions are recorded and communicated via a receiver to a session data manager. The session data manager processes received representations of the communication sessions in response to metadata generated on the mobile device. In some embodiments, the session data manager is coupled to a data store that indexes the representations. • Patent number: 7391942
Abstract: The invention relates to optical sensors and systems and methods employing the sensors for detecting one or more compounds of interest in a test medium. In one embodiment an optical sensor comprising a long period grating and a solid phase microextraction (SPME) film is exposed to a test medium such that one or more compounds of interest are selectively partitioned into the solid phase microextraction film. At least one optical property of the sensor exposed to the test medium is compared with at least one corresponding optical property of the sensor in absence of the test medium; wherein a difference in the optical property is indicative of one or more compounds of interest in the test medium. The methods and systems may employ long period grating sensors with or without SPME films, and fiber loop ring-down spectroscopy to measure optical properties of the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20070241164
Abstract: Embodiments in the present invention provide a system and method of joining structural members. This method involves aligning the first structural member to a metallic substrate when the first structural member has at least one tapered hole or cavity. A metallic or other like material suitable to cold spraying technology is deposited into the tapered cavity to form a shaped or tapered fastener bonded to the metallic substrate. The shape of the fastener secures the first structural member to the metallic substrate. Additionally, a protective insert may be placed within the shaped or tapered cavity to protect the first structural member during hoe cold spraying deposition when the first structural member is a composite material or other like material susceptible to erosion during the cold spraying technique.

  • Publication number: 20070215675
Abstract: A three dimensional joint is formed by coupling (joining) a first structural member and a second structural member. This involves first aligning a first structural member to a second structural member. The first structural member has a channel with which to receive a portion of the second structural member. Once aligned, the first structural member and second structural member may be friction stir welded at the channel to plasticize the material adjacent to the channel of both the first structural member and the second structural member to form a friction stir weld joint. This allows three dimensional objects to be formed from the friction stir weld joined members as opposed to merely allowing the joining of flat two dimensional surfaces.
