  • Publication number: 20250019531
Abstract: Large volumes of recycled polyethylenes are available for reuse. It would be desirable to prepare films from recycled polyethylene, however, the technical demands for many types of films can make this very difficult. Provided herein are films, for example, stretch films; shrink films; films for vacuum packages and films for dunnage packaging, that may be prepared from a blend of recycled polyethylene with “virgin” polyethylene.
    Type: Application
    Filed: September 26, 2024
    Publication date: January 16, 2025
    Applicant: NOVA Chemicals (International) S.A.
    Inventors: Monika KLECZEK, John BAYLEY

  • Publication number: 20090313997
Abstract: A unitary, hybrid engine which includes an internal combustion engine which is used both for locomotive and heat generation externally of the cylinders of the combustion engine, wherein the generated heat is employed in conjunction with an evaporator to generate steam, which is then stored in an energy accumulator which retains the stored energy by way of a pressured water containment unit. The pressurized water containment unit accretes the energy and, upon attainment of a predetermined pressure and liquid level, the steam is transmitted to one or more of the cylinders of the unitary engine to provide the motive power to the unitary engine. The engine includes control systems to permit the sole use of steam during such times as may be required for environmental or pollution control requirements. The control systems may also selectively permit the use of steam in one or more of the cylinders of the engine simultaneously with the use of fossil fuel in others.

  • Publication number: 20050070644
Abstract: A polymer process aid (PPA) for reducing melt defects in extruded polyethylene in the absence of fluoropolymers. The PPA is inexpensive and is also very effective for the reduction of extruder pressures. The PPA functions especially well for the extrusion of linear low density polyethylene.

  • Patent number: 6696166
Abstract: A plastic film having a desirable balance of physical properties is prepared using a pseudohomogeneous linear low density polyethylene (lldpe) resin on a blown film extrusion line. The lldpe used in this invention must have a melt index, I2, of from 0.4 to 0.8 grams per 10 minutes, a base resin density of from 0.915 to 0.919 grams per cubic centimeter and a copolymer/homopolymer (COHO) ratio of from 3 to 9. The film must be prepared under specific extrusion conditions using a specific annular extrusion die. The film of this invention has a dart impact strength of greater than 600 grams per mil and a machine direction tear strength of greater than 350 grams per mil and is suitable for the preparation of packaging and trash bags.
