  • Publication number: 20260147028
Abstract: A detector for detecting a periodic square wave (PSW) includes: an interface circuit configured to generate a serial bit stream (SBS) by sampling an input signal carrying the PSW; a decimation encoder circuit (DEC) coupled to the interface circuit and configured to generate, for every first number of bits in the SBS, a symbol in a symbol stream; a pulse width estimator (PWE) configured to generate, for each symbol generated by the DEC, an estimate of a width of a most recent pulse (MRP) in a sequence of bits in the SBS, where the sequence of bits correspond to a pre-determined number of most recent symbols generated by the DEC; and a state machine coupled to the PWE and configured to declare detection of the PSW in response to detecting that the estimate of the width of the MRP is within a pre-determined range for a pre-determined period of time.

  • Patent number: 9791568
Abstract: A sensing device is for sensing an outer surface of a roll of material. An infrared (IR) laser source is configured to direct IR laser radiation to the outer surface of the roll of material. A single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) detector is configured to receive reflected IR laser radiation from the outer surface of the roll of material. A controller is coupled to the IR laser source and the SPAD detector to determine a distance to the outer surface of the roll of material based upon a time-of-flight of the IR laser radiation.

  • Publication number: 20140190748
Abstract: A plurality of cutting faces is attached sequentially at a distal end of a drill string. The forward most cutting face that is distal to the top of the hole is exposed and used for drilling until worn to a point of inefficiency. The forward most or distal cutting face is then detached, exposing the next cutting face in the sequence. Detachment of the forward most cutting face is performed by remote actuation at the top of the drill string and/or outside the hole. A new cutting face is provided without the necessity of removing the drill string. The detachment process is repeated as long as drilling is continued and cutting faces remain.

  • Patent number: 6850156
Abstract: An anti-collision safety system for a vehicle includes a microprocessor which receives one or more inputs and controls an output of at least one indicator or signaling device in response to the inputs. The microprocessor may be continuously powered or energized when the vehicle is in use, such that the indicator may be modulated in situations when the brake pedal of the vehicle is not applied. Preferably, a proximity sensing device may be provided to detect objects exteriorly of the vehicle. Preferably, an accelerometer may also be included to provide a deceleration signal to the microprocessor. The microprocessor may modulate the indicator independent of actuation of the brake pedal by a driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: An anti-collision safety light control for a vehicle includes a microprocessor which receives one or more inputs and controls an output of at least one indicator or signaling device in response to the inputs. The microprocessor is continuously powered or energized when the vehicle is in use, such that the indicator may be modulated in situations when the brake pedal of the vehicle is not applied. Preferably, an accelerometer may be included with the safety light system to provide a deceleration signal to the microprocessor, which may determine whether the deceleration is at or above one or more threshold levels and correspondingly modulate the indicator in accordance with the particular threshold level encountered. The microprocessor may modulate the indicator independent of actuation of the brake pedal by a driver of the vehicle.
