  • Patent number: 10153282
Abstract: An apparatus for transporting or storing at least one semiconductor wafer in an ultra-high vacuum is provided. A portable vacuum transfer pod is provided comprising an internal wafer storage chamber for storing one or more wafers and a wafer support for supporting at least one wafer within the internal wafer storage chamber. A passively capable vacuum pump capable of passive vacuum pumping is in fluid connection with the internal wafer storage chamber and is mechanically connected to the portable vacuum transfer pod. A shut off valve for opening and closing the fluid connection is between the passively capable vacuum pump and the internal wafer storage chamber.

  • Publication number: 20050118646
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for purifying a protein complex and the components comprising the complex from a cell, a cell or tissue lysate or a whole organism by employing a combined set of affinity tags of high affinity, specificity and ease of elution. The method involves using a protein or a peptide modified to contain one or more affinity tags separated by one or more specific protease cleavage sites to isolate any interacting proteins or fragments thereof. Specifically exemplified is a method employing a modified bait containing AviTag or GST and a removal tag of His6 hexapeptide positioned proximal to the bait such that any excess bait can be efficiently removed from the purified complex yielding enriched interacting proteins prior to subjecting the complex for further identification of individual components. The identification of the proteins or fragments thereof contained in the protein complex will provide new targets for the identification of new pharmaceuticals and diagnostic tools.

  • Patent number: 4233755
Abstract: A contour following image pick-up head for use in a vehicle training simulator camera/model board visual system. A pivotable mirror 42 is fixedly mounted beneath the camera, while an adjustable shoe 38 which is free to rotate about a pitch axis is positioned beneath the mirror and moves with the camera in contact with the model board. One or more electromechanical transducers 54, 56 detect the pitch movement of the shoe as it traverses the board and produce signals which are used in controlling the pitch of the mirror to produce a realistic visual image corresponding to the view from the vehicle being simulated. The shoe may be given roll and vertical motion freedom and the camera provided with a Dove prism and vertical drive. Electromechanical transducers 48, 54, 56 may then be provided to detect roll and vertical movement of the shoe, and produce signals which may be used to control vertical camera movement and Dove prism movement for improved image realism.

  • Patent number: 3984204
Abstract: A method for monitoring the toxic constituent of an ambient gas e.g. sulphur dioxide in air involves bringing the gas into contact with a solution containing one component in which the gas is soluble and an indicator having optical transmission characteristics responsive to the quantity of the constituent in solution. An electric current is then passed through a second component which is electrolysed to neutralise the solution and restore the transmission characteristics of the indicator to a datum, the quantity of current passed being representative of a change in transmission characteristics from the datum and therefore in the case of the concentration of the toxic constituent where sulphur dioxide in air is to be monitored the air is bubbled through water in which the sulphur dioxide dissolves. The water contains hydrogen peroxide to convert the sulphur dioxide in solution to sulphuric acid which is effective to change the color or optical density of a pH responsive indicator such as methyl orange.
