  • Patent number: 11447972
Abstract: A building sheltering structure is configured to facilitate the shielding of domicile or building into an underground foundation before an emergency environmental condition arises. The foundation includes a cover plate and/or a second plate that translate horizontally to occlude the at least one domicile upon retraction into a secure cavity of the foundation by a lift assembly in the foundation cavity. The cover plate and second plate offer optimal protection to the domicile thereunder for various extreme conditions. Mounted atop the lift assembly, the at least one domicile can be fully retracted into the foundation cavity and completely shielded. The operation of the lift assembly is commanded and powered by a supply system, of which a processor facilitates emergency warnings and panic transmissions to signal for help. Further, a plurality of solar panels mounted atop the at least one domicile keeps the system charged for the use in emergency.

  • Patent number: 10689581
Abstract: Tools and techniques for biochar production and biochar products are provided in accordance with various embodiments. For example, some embodiments include a method of biochar production that may include introducing a compound that includes at least carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen into a reaction chamber. The compound may be heated to a temperature of at least 1,000 degrees Celsius in the reaction chamber such that the compound reacts through a pyrolysis reaction to produce biochar. The produced biochar may be collected and/or further processed in some cases. In some embodiments, the compound includes at least biomass or a waste product. In some embodiments, the temperature of the reaction chamber is at least 1,100 degrees Celsius. In some embodiments, the compound has a residence time in the reaction chamber between 10 seconds and 1,000 seconds to produce the biochar. Some embodiments include biochar that may include graphite or graphene.

  • Publication number: 20060198860
Abstract: This invention relates to compositions and methods of using blends of two or more monoterpenes as synergists for attractive pheromones of the mountain pine beetle, Dendroctonus ponderosae. When deployed in effective amounts in traps, on pine trees or in the vicinity of pine trees, these blends will increase the numbers of mountain pine beetles captured or attracted, compared to the numbers responding when a single monoterpene is used as a synergist.

  • Patent number: 5857119
Abstract: An object photographer and corresponding method are disclosed that enable the capturing images of an object for later electronic stitching. The photographer has an object stand, which rotates the object to be photographed, and a camera frame, which supports a camera to swing through an arc around the object. To facilitate stitching, the height of the object stand is adjustable so that the object coincides with an axis of rotation of the camera frame. Further, the camera is preferably mounted on an adjustable bracket to enable adjustments in the height of the camera relative to the camera frame. At least one counter weight mechanism is preferably used to balance the camera frame for smooth pivoting motion.

  • Patent number: 5752113
Abstract: Systems, particularly cameras and mounts, for capturing images of a panorama to allow the combination of the images into a continuous image are disclosed. In particular the invention is directed to mounts that rotate image capturing devices such that the images may be electronically stitched together. One such mount includes a base, which can be held on a tripod, and a frame rotatably connected to the base for supporting an image capturing device. Usually, such image capturing device is a chemical-film or digital camera. In some applications, a video camera will be useful of photographing a panorama at high speed. The mount has a rotational advance system that enables the rotation of the frame through discrete angles through 360.degree.. The frame may have a fordable arm for carrying an image capturing device in both a portrait and landscape orientation.
