  • Patent number: 7396381
Abstract: The present invention is directed to improvements in storage and delivery systems that allow for rapid fill and delivery of gases reversibly stored in a nonvolatile liquid medium, improvements in delivery and purity of the delivered gas. The low pressure storage and delivery system for gas which comprises: a container having an interior portion containing a reactive Lewis basic or Lewis acidic reactive liquid medium that is reversibly reacted with a gas having opposing Lewis acidity or basicity; a system for transferring energy into or out of the reactive liquid medium; or, a product gas purifier (e.g. a gas/liquid separator); or both.

  • Publication number: 20030229154
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a method of manufacturing frothed polyurethanes from raw materials that may best be described as quasi-prepolymer types where a partial prepolymer is reacted with a polyol. A partial pre-polymer, such as 4-4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, may be combined with a 4000 MW propylene-oxide based polyether polyol, such as polypropylene glycol which may be end-capped with a polyethylene glycol, or a 6000 MW propylene-oxide based polyether polyol, such as polypropylene glycol which may be end-capped with a polyethylene glycol, and a catalyst to produce frothed polyurethane material in sheet form having enhanced compressibility and elastic recovery.

  • Patent number: 5872289
Abstract: A liquid-phase process for hydrolyzing a carboxylic acid alkyl ester having 2 to 18 carbon atoms to provide a product mixture comprising a carboxylic acid and an alcohol comprising contacting a feedstock comprising the carboxylic acid alkyl ester and water with an acidic carbon catalyst under reaction conditions sufficient to form the product mixture comprising the carboxylic acid and the alcohol. Suitable acidic carbon catalysts include charcoal and carbons produced from a variety of sources including coconut shells, coal, wood and peat. Carbon catalysts may be rendered acidic by treatment with nitric acid.
