  • Publication number: 20200339821
Abstract: Method of producing a high strength (with improved tensile strength and elongation at break properties), high quality, cost effective, nanoparticle enhanced polyurea, polyurethane, and epoxy composites with chemical bonding into polymer backbone. The mechanical properties of tensile strength and elongation at break improves concurrently and significantly with tensile strength increasing well over 300%. The polymer/nanoparticle composite can be produced cost effectively as a high quality coating system or in nanoparticle concentrate forms.

  • Publication number: 20180297045
Abstract: A pressurized fluid turbulence system includes a component inlet that receives a liquid component, component outlet for expelling the liquid component and an adjustable ball valve arranged between and in fluid communication with the component inlet and component outlet, and can open and close a flow path between the two. The component inlet and outlet both have a cylindrical channel and the component inlet is upstream from the component outlet. A cylindrically shaped pressurized input receives a pressurized fluid and has a longitudinal axis aligned in a direction towards the adjustable ball valve such that a pressurized fluid may impact the adjustable ball valve when the pressurized input is in an open position. A system for mixing two liquid components includes two pressurized fluid turbulence systems in which the two liquid components are mixed downstream of the component outlets.

  • Publication number: 20170246659
Abstract: An UV (ultraviolet), IR (infrared) and NIR (near infrared) protection system and method for surfaces or substrates that experience degradation from solar radiation, UV/IR/NIR exposure. The method for protecting a substrate from UV degradation includes treating a surface of the substrate to allow a UV blocking agent to adhere to the surface of the substrate, applying the UV blocking agent to the surface of the substrate, and allowing the surface of the substrate to harden, thereby adhering the UV blocking agent to the surface of the substrate. The UV/IR/NIR protection system is tunable so that specific ranges of the UV spectrum may be blocked to reduce or eliminate UV degradation. The UV protection system may be in the form of a dispersion, suspension, emulsion, or in other liquid application form; in a solid particle form; or a pre-mold/precast transfer medium when applied to or it becomes the given substrate.

  • Publication number: 20160289971
Abstract: A composite structure includes a substrate, a first coating layer arranged on the substrate, and a second coating layer arranged on the first coating layer such that the first coating layer is between the substrate and the second coating layer. The composite structure may further include a third coating layer and an aggregate layer arranged on the second coating layer. A method of forming a composite structure includes applying a coating mixture by spray or by rolling, brushing or squeegeeing to a substrate, partially dissolving the substrate, thereby allowing the coating mixture to partially mix with the substrate to form a first coating layer on the substrate; and forming a second coating layer from the coating compound on the first coating layer.

  • Publication number: 20160076242
Abstract: A thermochromic coating that comprises a thermo chromic compound and a polyurea resin. The thermo chromic compound and polyurea resin form a thermochromic layer. The coating optionally has a protective layer containing a resin and a UV-blocking material arranged on top of the thermochromic layer. A reflective layer containing a reflective material is optionally arranged between the thermo chromic layer and the substrate. A thermochromic coating is formed by applying successive reflective, thermochromic, and protective layers on a substrate.

  • Publication number: 20120183692
Abstract: A protective coating for protecting a surface has a liquid applied coating having 100% solids and zero solvents and/or zero volatile organic compounds. The resulting protective coating may be clear or transparent to visible light. The liquid applied coating has two or more components that is applied to a surface as a liquid and cured in place to form a solid coating. The liquid applied coating may be cast onto a surface after mixing and spread on the surface to a final desired thickness. The liquid applied coating has a polyurea or polyurethane, or a hybrid polyurea-polyurethane. The polymeric resin system may have dendrimers or hyperbranched polyol or polyamine raw materials in the formulation. The protective coating optionally contains no polyaspartic amines.
