  • Publication number: 20240091378
Abstract: The present disclosure provides recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) virions with altered capsid protein, where the recombinant AAV (rAAV) virions exhibit greater ability to cross barriers between intravitreal fluid and retinal cells, and thus greater infectivity of a retinal cell compared to wild-type AAV, and where the rAAV virions comprise a heterologous nucleic acid. The present disclosure provides methods of delivering a gene product to a retinal cell in an individual.

  • Patent number: 6347882
Abstract: A display back lighting system (100) includes a light pipe (106) that is mounted above a printed circuit board (102) and below a liquid crystal display (108). The backplane (112) of the light pipe has a surface area adapted to accommodate the liquid crystal display. The backplane of the light pipe is substantially perpendicular to a light emitted from a light source (104) mounted on the printed circuit board. An entrance lens (114) on the light pipe receives light from the light source and directs the light towards a reflecting lens (116). The reflecting lens optimally has an elliptical shape that reflects light from the entrance lens toward the backplane of the light pipe. In this manner, a backlight is provided for a liquid crystal display.

  • Patent number: 6110618
Abstract: Described is a two-part housing for a battery cell having circuitry separate from the main body of the cell. Finger joints, blind dado joints, and edge joints with rabbeted edges are disposed in the mating region between the two halves of the housing. An insulating and alignment wall is integral with one half of the housing, and fits in the channel between the main body of the cell and the circuitry. The housing is dimensionally stable, provides mechanical protection for the delicate cell circuitry, and the two halves of the housing may be secured using only a label wrap.

  • Patent number: 6025996
Abstract: Described is an integral electrical contact block and printed circuit board for an electrical device. The electrical contacts arch over components on the printed circuit board and are secured to the printed circuit board at either end of the arch. A second arch is above the lower arch, secured to the lower arch at one end, forming a structure with an open mouth. This open mouth can capture a plastic housing. The contact provides protection for components beneath it, provides for efficient use of space in an electrical device, and the mouth of the contact absorbs shock that otherwise might be transmitted directly to solder joints on the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5907471
Abstract: An energy storage assembly is made of an energy storage device, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield, and an adhesive positioned between the EMI shield and the energy storage device for affixing the energy storage device to a surface of the EMI shield. The EMI shield is a metal that is shaped to partially enclose an electrical component other than the energy storage device.

  • Patent number: 4050449
Abstract: An apparatus for exercising muscles of a female patient's pelvic diaphragm, most particularly vaginal wall muscles. A slickened elastomeric elongated balloon with a cylindrical wall and a first closed end is provided. Latex for example is a suitable elastomeric material for this application. The cylindrical wall has sufficient rigidity for the balloon to be inserted closed endwise into the patient's vagina, without need for any stem member. The second end of the balloon reduces in section to form a shoulder and a tube adapted to extend out of the patient's vagina. A collar surrounds the tube and abuts the shoulder so that the patient can manually hold the balloon in her vagina. In an alternate embodiment, the tube is stiffened. The balloon may be filled with a fluid, such as air, another gas or a liquid (at atmospheric or superatmospheric pressures) and measurements of pressures in the balloon index exertions of the muscles of the patients' pelvic diaphragm.
