  • Patent number: 5987863
Abstract: A multiblade lawn mower including a mower deck having a plurality of cutting blades rotatably disposed therein. A first flow control baffle is positioned in the mower deck between the cutting blades and the front wall of the mower deck and extends substantially continuously between the sides of the mower deck. A second flow control baffle is positioned in the mower deck rearwardly of the cutting blades. The first and second flow control baffles include a plurality of semi-circular baffle portions which define a plurality of open throat portions therebetween. A plurality of selectively removable mulcher baffles are positioned in the mower deck to close the throat portions, thereby defining a substantially cylindrical mulching chamber around each of the cutting blades.

  • Patent number: 5865020
Abstract: A riding lawn mower having a low center of gravity comprising a frame having a pair of drive wheels rotatably mounted at the rearward end thereof and having a caster wheel supported mower deck at the forward end thereof. A plurality of cutting blades are disposed within the mower deck. An engine support deck is positioned rearwardly of the operator's station on the mower and is disposed in a plane closely adjacent the rotational axis of the rear drive wheels. A vertically disposed rotatable shaft is mounted in the rearward end of the mower deck and has its upper end disposed above the top wall of the mower deck. An upper pulley is mounted on the rotatable shaft above the top wall of the mower deck and is connected to the spindles of the cutting blades by a first belt. A lower pulley is mounted on the rotatable shaft below the upper pulley and is substantially disposed in the same plane as the top wall of the mower deck.

  • Patent number: 5816033
Abstract: A mower deck height control is provided for a riding lawn mower and which includes a control lever operatively connected to the mower deck of the mower by means of linkages and chains. The control lever is pivotally movably mounted between a pair of vertically disposed and horizontally spaced-apart plates having registering openings formed therein which are adapted to receive a pin extending therebetween to limit the downward movement of the control lever with respect to the plates so that the proper cutting height is achieved. The control lever may be also positioned in a transport position.

  • Patent number: 4206816
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for folding an articulated agricultural implement such as a multisection plow in order to facilitate movement of the implement from field to field along available roadways. Stability in the folded condition and minimization of the number of hydraulic cylinders required are achieved through the use of a gravity operated lock arrangement associated with adjacent sections of the foldable wing frame units of the implement. The number of locks and hydraulic cylinders depends upon the total number of hinged sections used to form the base and wing units of the frame assembly. The inboard hydraulic cylinders are pivotally connected to respective draft beams on the base unit and each acts directly between such beam and the associated wing unit.

  • Patent number: 4150725
Abstract: An agricultural implement such as a disc or treader is provided with a counterpoise connection between the frame of the implement and the tongue for holding the tongue in a normal operative position. The counterpoise employs a spring-loaded compensator link of normally fixed length which prevents relative movement of the tongue and frame under the reaction forces against the tillage tools produced by the resistance of the soil, but the springs permit the length of the link to change to allow the tongue to self-adjust in response to the higher forces against the tongue encountered when uneven terrain is traversed. The design provides for the use of a selected number of springs in a symmetrical cluster with each spring being employed in both the extension and shortening of the link. The illustrated embodiment is a double offset disc wherein the front gangs of discs cut a furrow in the soil in which the center transport wheels of the implement are forced to run.
