  • Patent number: 4907229
Abstract: An improved high frequency selective multimode/multiconfigurable data acqition and reduction processor (DARP) system for analyzing more than one high frequency multibit sample data word stream (SDWSM) input from a digital data source arrangement being evaluated. As the result of this analysis, one or more sample data words of any SDWSM are accepted, time-tagged and stored for further analysis in evaluating the arrangement. The DARP system is generally made up of a host computer (HC), a plurality of trigger elements (TEs) and an asynchronous time-tag generator. Each TE is generally comprised of a master control board, a plurality of three trigger boards and a TE memory. The DARP system is advantageously provided with a plurality of five primary modes for each TE as well as various secondary modes therefor.

  • Patent number: 4808875
Abstract: A novel locker shelf and drawer assembly for placement interiorly to a locker or other semi-enclosed container providing a shelf above the floor of the locker together with a slidable drawer for holding of books and storage of pencils and the like. The locker shelf and drawer is constructed of two oppositely situated vertical upright members with attached shelf portions. The shelf portions are each characterized by having diagonal converging sides. Further, these diagonal converging sides are also characterized by acute angled beveled edges formed on the sides. Adapted to be received between the converging sides of the left and right shelf portions is a center wedge portion having the same angled converging diagonal sides, with the edges of these sides additionally configured to have the same angled acute beveled edges.

  • Patent number: 4745077
Abstract: The invention concerns assays, such a immunoassays or two-site immunometric assays, performed using a labelled reagent and another reagent bound to magnetically attractable particles which are suspendable but insoluble in a liquid assay medium. After the labelled reagent has become partitioned between the liquid phase and the particles, in proportions which depend on the concentration of an analyte in a sample, the liquid phase is removed. Then the particles are re-suspended in another liquid medium, and the concentration of label observed. The method is particularly suitable for fluorescent and chemiluminescent' label systems, and can conveniently be performed in microtiter plates in which the wells are optically screened from one another, the observations being made from above or below the wells.

  • Patent number: 4666863
Abstract: A method of performing an assay for an analyte comprises providing a chromatographic medium, preferably in sheet form, forming a reaction mixture containing a labelled reagent present partly in a form which is mobile on the medium and partly in a form which is immobile, the proportions of the two forms being related to the analyte concentration, applying the mixture to a spot on the chromatographic medium, optionally applying a solvent to cause the mobile form of the labelled reagent to migrate from the spot, and measuring the label intensity remaining at the spot. The method provides a convenient way of performing immunoassays, 2-site immunometric assays, and agglutination assays.

  • Patent number: 4580193
Abstract: A configuration is disclosed for attaching leads (15) from several chips (1a-1d) to bus (5a) lines (9a-9m) on a printed circuit board (6). The bus (5a) includes pads (13), each directed toward one of pads (3) on the chip to be connected by arched wires (15). Lines (9a-9l) connected to each end of the board pads (13) and extend generally parallel to the chips (1a-1d) past the sections containing the pads (3). Lines (9a-9l) are displaced alternately toward and away from the chips (1a-1d) at sections containing pads (13) directed toward the chips (1a-1d) or having a part (17) taking a corresponding direction. The pads (13) alternate on opposite sides of each chip (1) to minimize the length of the leads (15) and to allow a central chip pad (3V) for carrying operating voltage (or ground) to connect to the outermost line (9m). This reduces the board space used for a bus (5a) and minimizes the length of wires (15) connecting chips (1a-1d) to a bus (5a).

  • Patent number: 4550775
Abstract: A heat exchanger of the shell and tube type particularly suitable as an intercooler between compression stages of a compressor is disclosed. The heat exchanger includes a generally cylindrical shell having first and second coil banks disposed therein. The banks are spaced from each other and from the wall of the shell. The incoming fluid flows between the heat exchange coil banks and outwardly therethrough, passing in heat exchange relationship with a fluid flowing through the coils. The fluid velocity is reduced, substantially minimizing carryover of liquid in the fluid, and directional changes in the fluid flow causes disentrainment of liquid. A sump is provided in the bottom of the heat exchanger for removing the condensed liquids, and separate demistors or separators are not required. Access to the coils for cleaning and/or servicing may be had through a manway disposed in the shell, or through an openable end of the shell.

  • Patent number: 4484266
Abstract: An Externally Specified Index (ESI) peripheral simulator portion of an ESI eripheral simulation system allows a plurality of parallel word input/output (I/O) channels of a tactical computer to communicate with each other as if real peripheral equipment were attached thereto. A simulation computer having a similar plurality of parallel word I/O channels is operatively connected to the ESI peripheral simulator such that it converts the interface signals of the simulation computer to be compatible with the interface signals of the tactical computer. Accordingly, the function of the ESI peripheral simulator is to simulate tactical peripherals. It accomplishes the foregoing function by using information transferred to it by the simulation computer.
