  • Patent number: 4978255
Abstract: A fluid supply pipe (1) is drilled and tapped using a saddle (2) adhered to its surface, the drilling and tapping tools being attached to the saddle. The saddle (2) comprises a sole plate (3) snugly fitting on the pipe, and an upstanding collar (4) with a through bore (20) through which the cutting and tapping tools pass. During adhering the saddle to the pipe, adhesive is prevented from entering the bore (20) by provision of a closure member (21).

  • Patent number: 4832069
Abstract: Subterranean service pipes, eg. water mains, are tapped by minimal excavation to expose the upper half of the main and then locating (with respect to the main) a conventional pipe-tapping device but without employing means encircling the pipe. Thus, a clamp can be used, or a saddle adhesively secured to the pipe. The clamp or saddle preferably provide means for proper orientation of the drilling and tapping tool with respect to the main.

  • Patent number: 4647251
Abstract: For running communication cables to dwellings and other buildings to enable the distribution of information (e.g. in a cable television system) to or collection of information from those buildings, use is made of the pre-existing underground pipes which serve to drain sewage and/or surface and storm water away from those buildings. The cables preferably are secured to the surface of the sewage-draining pipes, preferably along the soffit of those pipes and for example by clips fixed at intervals.

  • Patent number: 4169666
Abstract: In a composite photography system of the type wherein a foreground camera photographs life-size actors and objects while a background camera photographs scenery on a life-size scale or a scale different from life-size so that when the outputs from both cameras are combined the actor or foreground objects will appear to be located in the scenery filmed by the background camera, it is crucial that the motion of the background camera be slaved to the motion of the foreground camera. The foreground camera is mounted on a yaw and pitch support mechanism which is in turn mounted on a boom that provides movement along the z axis. The boom is carried by a dolly that moves the entire assembly in the x-y plane. Sensors on the dolly detect movement along the five axes of x, y, z, yaw and pitch, and cause the background camera to move its corresponding amount.
