  • Publication number: 20140227156
Abstract: A diesel oxidation catalyst includes an inlet side, an outlet side, and at least one channel extending from the inlet side to the outlet side, the channel including a first, non-catalyzed portion extending from the inlet side to a second, catalyzed portion. A method of treating engine exhaust gas is also provided.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 6, 2011
    Publication date: August 14, 2014
    Applicant: Mack Trucks Inc.
Inventors: John C. Gibble, Chun Tai, Jeffrey A Huber
  • Patent number: 8566006
Abstract: A method for controlling combustion in a multi-cylinder engine includes injecting fuel into at least one cylinder of the multi-cylinder engine and, for each cylinder, separately controlling at least one fuel injection parameter to produce a desired exhaust composition for that cylinder. A multi-cylinder engine is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 24, 2008
Date of Patent: October 22, 2013
    Assignee: Mack Trucks, Inc.
    Inventor: John C. Gibble
  • Patent number: 8528329
Abstract: A method for controlling emissions during low-load diesel engine operation is provided. The engine includes at least one piston movable in a cylinder between a top dead center and a bottom dead center position, a fuel injector for injecting fuel into the cylinder, and a variable geometry turbine through which exhaust from the engine is adapted to flow. According to the method, the engine is operated at low load, NOx emissions are measured at an exhaust of the engine, and a variable geometry turbine inlet opening size is controlled responsive to NOx emissions measurements so that NOx emission levels are controlled.
