  • Patent number: 11921789
Abstract: An apparatus and method for training a search engine generates synthetic search arguments and target information that are provided to the search engine as training. A search argument simulator ingests product information and historical interaction data, determines relevant descriptors, creates compound descriptors, and creates candidate search arguments. A trainer checks the candidates against historical search arguments, identifies similar search arguments and determines likely search arguments that are used for training. An evaluator monitors search engine responses and triggers retraining of the search engine.

  • Patent number: 4694457
Abstract: An ion or electron beam is steered or focussed by a circular magnetic field produced by passing a large electrical current through a straight conducting wire, the magnetic field being co-axial with the wire. Annular beams of charged particles coaxial with the straight wire can be focussed onto a circular spot or, depending upon the entry radius of the annular beam and the magnetic field strength, can be induced to follow a looping trajectory. The effect of the steering or focussing system can be enhanced by the provision of a cylindrical conductor which is co-axial with the straight conducting wire and maintained at a voltage sufficient to produce the desired particle trajectory such that the particle beam passes between the wire and the cylindrical conductor. The beam steering or focussing systems is applicable to the fields of beam current density intensification, ion implantation, ion separation and free electron lasers.

  • Patent number: 4649413
Abstract: An MOS integrated circuit has an array of terminal means connectable to an output buffer or the like arranged around an array of MOS circuit components such as shift registers or the like and has a novel metal programmable matrix arranged for compactly and economically accommodating any selected interconnection of the shift registers and terminal pins at the metal conductor level of the integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 4199685
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus in which laser pulses of up to about one nanosecond duration (.about.10.sup.-9 secs) and high intensity, more than 10.sup.11 watts cm.sup.-2, generate energetic (>>10 keV) ions, which can have very high charge states of more than twenty times the charge state of a single electron, from solid or liquid targets using non-liner, electrodynamic forces operating within the target material. In the present invention the energetic, highly charged ions are produced in such a manner that isotopes of a particular element forming the target can be separated into their respective groups travelling at particular velocities and directions, at distances of more than one meter from the irradiated target. In the present invention, the energetic, highly charged ions are generated and accelerated with high efficiency (>25%) within a relatively cold plasma (<1000 eV) generated from the target material.

  • Patent number: 4107928
Abstract: This is a method and an apparatus for performing said method, for the conversion of thermal energy into mechanical or electrical energy by means of an exchange of temperature between two water sources having a temperature differential, and utilizing a compressible fluid to be alternately compressed and expanded by the use of the thermal differential, with the flow imparted to the compressible fluid utilized through an improved positive displacement rotary valve and a motor wherein the motor is operated by hydraulic cylinders alternately pressurized and depressurized and connected between a pair of canted discs.
