  • Patent number: 4399733
Abstract: A novel semiautomatic swaybrace is provided for steadying and restraining bombs or the like suspended from the bomb racks of aircraft. The swaybrace of this invention comprises a spiral wedge and torsion/compression spring uniquely configured to allow the swaybrace to be cocked to a retracted condition prior to loading of a bomb rack and then to be released to automatically and firmly seat itself against the load. The interaction of the forces stored in the compressed spring with the spiral wedge allow automatic extension of the swaybrace.
