  • Patent number: 6139229
Abstract: Improvements made to a router relate to a fine adjust depth stop system. The preferred router comprises a micro-adjust knob coupled to a threaded member within one of a plurality of plunge guide posts. A depth stop nut is coupled to the treaded member such that the nut travels up and down the threaded member as the mirco-adjust knob is rotated. The location of the nut within the plunge guide post defined a depth stop position for the motor housing relative to a router base. When the motor housing is located at the depth stop position, the stop point, and thus the motor housing, will move up and down relative to the base as the micro-adjust knob is rotated.

  • Patent number: 6120362
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an angle grinder including an elongated handle body having front and rear portions. The handle body has a greater nominal width proximate the front portion than proximate the rear portion. A recessed hand grip portion is defined by the handle body between the front and rear handle portions. The recessed hand grip portion transitions inward to a nominal girth that is smaller than the girth of both the front and rear portions. The recessed hand grip portion also includes a leading front wall that transitions from the smaller nominal girth of the grip portion toward the larger nominal girth of the front portion. The leading front wall is aligned at an angle that slopes in a forward direction as the leading front wall extends from the top side toward the bottom side of the handle body. The disclosure also relates to an angle grinder having a switch paddle pivotally connected to a handle.

  • Patent number: 5945235
Abstract: A holder for a pair of cylindrical battery cells includes a carrier which retains the batteries in parallel side-by-side relationship and in series electrical connection. The cells are installed into a housing longitudinally and the housing is formed with guide channels for guiding and substantially surrounding the cells. At the ends of the guide channels, there are provided contact elements for electrically connecting the battery cells to circuitry. Electric shock hazard to a user is eliminated because the internal contact elements are inaccessible to the operator, even when the carrier is removed from the housing.

  • Patent number: 5905834
Abstract: An optical fiber cable comprises a central tube containing at least one optical fiber, a plurality of outer tubes, each containing at least one optical fiber, and at least two strength members, wherein the outer tubes and strength members are disposed around and in contact with the central tube, the strength members being between intermediate pairs of outer tubes. Preferably, a cord is wound around the outer tubes and strength members to hold them against the outer tube. Preferably, the optical fiber in the central tube is part of an optical fiber ribbon. Preferably, a plurality of individual optical fibers are provided in the outer tubes. The optical fibers are loosely contained within the central and outer tubes. One or several additional tubes containing insulated copper pairs or a coaxial cable may also be provided. Preferably, the cable tubes and the strength members are disposed in a reverse oscillating lay or S-Z fashion around the central tube.

  • Patent number: 5561994
Abstract: A lock for a sliding door has at least one locking bolt adapted in use to be moved between an open position and a locking position by activation of an operating member which rotates a pinion which engages a pair of drive racks to cause movement of the locking bolt generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bolt and in a direction parallel to a leading edge of a door in which the lock is mounted. The locking bolt is adapted when moved to its locking position to move into locking engagement with a staple-like keep mounted on a frame for the door when the door is in a closed position. A key operated deadlock facility prevents activation of the operating member. Preferably, the lock is also fitted with a safety mechanism so that it cannot be damaged if the door to which it is fitted is closed when the lock is in a locking position, and it is also possible to provide both an automatic latching and a panic feature on the lock.

  • Patent number: 5557989
Abstract: A device for securing and tensioning a band saw blade, including a rectangular base member having a longitudinal axis, and a disk member fixedly attached at one end of the base member, the disk member holding a first end of the band saw blade in place. A first pair of parallel blade guides is disposed parallel to the longitudinal axis of the base member for supporting a section of the band saw blade therebetween. A retractable tensioning mechanism is disposed at the other end of the base member, which produces an outwardly directed force on a second end of the band saw blade.

  • Patent number: 5554066
Abstract: An in-line sander comprising a sander body which houses a motor coupled to an in-line oscillating mechanism. The in-line oscillating mechanism is adapted and configured to move a sanding pad in a linear oscillating motion.A preferred pad is a profiled sanding pad coupled to the in-line oscillating mechanism. The profiled sanding pad has, in a plane substantially perpendicular to the linear oscillating motion of the sander, a particular cross sectional profile corresponding to a profile to be formed onto or to be sanded on a workpiece. The cross sectional configuration extends substantially consistently along the length of the pad, and the pad defines a sanding surface having a profile corresponding to the particular cross sectional profile. With such profiled sanding pads, sandpaper secured to the sanding surface of the pads will power sand the profile to be formed onto or to be sanded on a workpiece.
