  • Patent number: 8936056
Abstract: Heavy vehicle tire treads and/or undertread constituted at least in part from a rubber composition comprising between 80 and 100 phr of a natural rubber and between 0 and 20 phr of a synthetic polyisoprene rubber, a reinforcement filler comprising a) between 30 and 50 phr of a highly dispersible silica and b) a carbon black in an amount of between (0.75)C phr and (1.25)C phr as determined by the equation C=?0.8Si+44.3, wherein Si is the amount of the highly dispersible silica, a silane coupling agent and a sulfur curing system comprising between 1.5 and 3 phr of free sulfur and between (0.9)A phr and (L 1)A phr of a sulfenamide accelerator, wherein A is determined by a formula that is a function of the sulfur quantity and the silica weight fraction of the total reinforcement filler.

  • Publication number: 20120247630
Abstract: A heavy vehicle tire tread formed from a material that is based upon a cross-linkable rubber composition, the cross-linkable rubber composition comprising, per 100 parts by weight of rubber, between 35 and 60 phr of a solution polymerized styrenc-butadiene rubber having a styrene content of between 10 wl. % and 35 wt. %, between 35 and 60 phr of a polybutadiene, and between 45 and 110 phr of silica. Also included is between 1 and 8 phr of an amide processing aid, the processing aid comprising one or more amides of the form (Formula I); wherein R is an aliphatic chain of between 14 and 20 carbons, R? is selected from H or an aliphatic chain of between 1 and 4 carbons and R? is selected from an aliphatic chain of between 1 and 4 carbons having an —OH moiety.

  • Patent number: 6598632
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tire the sidewalls of which comprise a vulcanized rubber composition. The composition comprises between 0.5 phr and 10 phr (weight parts per hundred parts of rubber) of at least one polymer which comprises an oxy group defined by the formula —O— and, linked to the one side of the oxy group, at least one polyoxyalkylene block according to the formula (CnH2nO)x, where n is equal to 2 or 3 and x is equal to from 2 through 15 and the at least one block is linked to a hydrogen atom at the chain end, so that the hydrogen atom forms an alcohol function with the terminal oxygen atom of the block. According to the invention, the polymer comprises, linked to the other side of the oxy group, an aliphatic moiety selected from the group consisting of a blend of aliphatic alkyl chains having an average number of carbon atoms of from 10 through 14, and an aliphatic chain which comprises an alkyl chain having 13 carbon atoms.
