  • Patent number: 9073689
Abstract: A microwave energy interactive structure for heating, browning, and/or crisping a food item in a microwave oven includes a plurality of layers including a layer of microwave energy interactive material and a substantially continuous tie layer. The tie layer includes a thermoplastic material. Upon sufficient exposure to microwave energy, the tie layer softens and allows the adjacent layers to separate from one another to define a void between the respective layers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 15, 2008
Date of Patent: July 7, 2015
    Assignee: Graphic Packaging International, Inc.
Inventors: John Cameron Files, Scott W. Middleton
  • Patent number: 7868274
Abstract: A microwave energy interactive web includes a reagent that is responsive to heat. The microwave energy interactive web may be used to form a package for heating a food item.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 14, 2006
Date of Patent: January 11, 2011
    Assignee: Graphic Packaging International, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20100120313
Abstract: A packaging material for oily or greasy food items includes one or more features for resisting penetration, masking penetration, or for a combination of resisting and masking penetration by the oily or greasy substance.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 11, 2009
    Publication date: May 13, 2010
Inventors: Reinhard D. Bohme, John Cameron Files
  • Patent number: 7416767
Abstract: A barrier composite having reduced blocking is disclosed. The composite may include a substrate, a barrier layer formed from polyvinylidene chloride disposed on the substrate, and an anti-blocking layer disposed on the barrier layer. The anti-blocking layer may be formed from polyvinyl alcohol, and optionally, colloidal silica, wax, or a combination thereof. Alternatively, the anti-blocking layer may be formed from a polymeric carrier material, colloidal silica, and a wax. Methods for forming such composites and for forming a roll of such composites are also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
