  • Publication number: 20070074988
Abstract: A carton including a dispenser disposed at the upper end of the carton. The dispenser includes an at least partially detachable portion that is connected by detachable connection, such as tear strips. The tear strips define an edge of the carton. At least a portion of the edge along each of the end walls is offset from a top wall of the carton by a distance such that at least the uppermost tier of articles is exposed for removal but the articles are retained in the carton by the edge. The distance is no greater than the diameter of each of the articles.

  • Publication number: 20060254942
Abstract: A tubular carton is configured to be erected to a first pre-load height, and then to a second post-load height. This carton comprises a top wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of opposed side walls. The walls define a void of a first height for receiving articles, such as tapered bottles. In addition, this carton includes a structure that funnels the articles into the void, such that the articles force the carton to flex along a score line and at least a portion of one or more walls to retract inwardly, thereby increasing the height of the void from a first height to a second greater height. The funneling structure may be connected to one of the walls and, after loading of the articles, is arranged to seal the carton.

  • Publication number: 20060237520
Abstract: A top panel (110), a pair of side panels (112, 114) attached to the top panel (110) and base panels (120, 122) form a tubular open-ended carton (700). End flaps (128, 130) extend from the top panel (110) at the open ends of the carton (700) and are provided with finger receiving areas (108) for grasping by a user. The end flaps (128, 130) are attached to the top panel (110) and are deflectable from an extended position to an interior position when grasped by a user. Relief slits (144), fold lines, and score lines may be provided at predetermined locations to allow the end panels (128, 130) to deflect inward and the top panel (110) to deflect upward when the carton (700) is grasped by a user, thereby providing a convenient means to carry the carton (700) which also provides means for a tightening the carton (700) about the articles (810).

  • Publication number: 20060191983
Abstract: One or more disposable funnels are provided as integral and detachable portions of the walls of a carton in which cans or bottles of a pourable product such as oil are enclosed. In this manner, the funnels are can be conveniently marketed along with the product, and are handy, disposable, and economical and they are constructed by perforating preexisting carton walls. Each funnel is defined by a substantially continuous severance line that distinguishes the periphery of the funnel from the remainder of the carton wall. The funnel is detached from the carton wall by breaking the severance line. Then, the funnel is configured for use by folding or otherwise reshaping the funnel to include a channel for controlling the flow of the product as it is poured from a container, and a handle for holding the funnel in position.

  • Publication number: 20060144725
Abstract: A tubular carrier for a number of articles. The carrier may include a pair of side walls with upper and lower ends and a handle formed by the upper ends of the side walls. A first one of the side walls may include an access opening and a second one of the side walls may include a retention aperture for engaging one of the articles.

  • Publication number: 20060117716
Abstract: A method and apparatus for packaging articles such as pouches which do not have rigid structures. The method includes the steps of placing first and second sets of the articles onto spaced apart loading panels of a carton blank so that the article sets are spaced apart with an unloaded further panel of the blank disposed between the article sets, raising the spaced loading panels together with the respective sets of articles to transfer the sets of articles to the unloaded further panel so that the unloaded further panel becomes the loaded base of the carton and the loading panels become opposed side panels of the carton.

  • Publication number: 20050242165
Abstract: A carton having a dispensing feature adapted for permitting the removal of articles from within the carton. Top and bottom opposed walls are interconnected by a pair of side walls to form a tubular body. An article dispenser is provided by a removable portion defined by an opening in the carton for exposing articles for removal. The removable portion is at least partially defined by a frangible line extending across each side wall to opposite side edges of the bottom wall. A portion of the frangible line extends at least partially along the adjacent end edge of the bottom wall and then extends to the opposite side edges of the bottom wall. A buttress arrangement for enhancing the stacking strength of the carton is formed from the distal portion of at least one side end flap.

  • Publication number: 20050023333
Abstract: An opening assist for a dispensing carton to facilitate the opening of the carton to dispense articles without unintentional tearing of the carton. The dispensing carton includes a plurality of panels hingedly connected to one another. A displaceable portion is detachably connected to an end of the carton to define an opening for exposing an endmost article for removal from the carton end. The displaceable portion is at least partially defined by a frangible line on the carton end. An opening assist is defined in the carton end at least partially along the frangible line to facilitate the opening of the dispensing carton via the displaceable portion.
