  • Patent number: 7274996
Abstract: A method and system for monitoring fluid flow, such as fluid flow through pipelines or similar conduits for delivering natural gas, crude oil, and other similar liquid or gas energy commodities, relies on the measurement of acoustic waves generated by the fluid, thus allowing for monitoring of the flow rate without direct access to the fluid. Furthermore, the method and system allows for estimation of the operational dynamics of components or facilities of the production, transportation, storage, and distribution systems for the energy commodities.

  • Patent number: 6771058
Abstract: An apparatus and method allows for a determination of the amount and direction of electric power flowing over a particular high-voltage electric power transmission line without proximate access to said transmission line, and thus can be used to provide a determination of the amount of electric power being produced by any particular electric power generation plant connected to an electric power transmission grid.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 3, 2004
    Assignee: Genscape, Inc.
Inventors: Sterling Lapinksi, John Carroll Hill
  • Publication number: 20030098683
Abstract: An apparatus in accordance with the present invention allows for a determination of the amount and direction of electric power flowing over a particular high-voltage electric power transmission line without proximate access to said transmission line, and further allows for a determination of the amount of electric power being produced by any particular electric power generation plant connected to an electric power transmission grid.

  • Patent number: 4041395
Abstract: A system for detecting, indicating, and adjusting the degree of mismatch between a transmitter and an electrical transmission line, with additional measurement of transmitter performance parameters. This system uses a three-wire transmission line sensor to generate signals proportional to the forward and reflected waves on the main transmission line. These signals are applied to a special-purpose computer which automatically calculates the standing wave ratio (SWR) on the transmission line. An adjustable matching network is included to allow adjustment of the standing wave ratio to whatever value is required for proper transmitter operation. Additional sensors generate signals which are applied to the same computer, which automatically calculates the modulation percentage of the transmitter.
