  • Publication number: 20180270300
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for providing Information Centric Networking (ICN) within a network, comprising detecting a request for content from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that is in the network, selecting a network element for the WTRU to attach to, wherein the network element is selected without regard to properties of the content requested, and providing the content to the WTRU. A request to publish content from a WTRU in the network may include determining, based on content name, whether to publish the content in the network or outside the network, and if the content is to be published in the network, selecting a network element for the WTRU to attach to, wherein the network element is selected without regard to properties of the content requested, and causing the network element to accept the content from the WTRU.

  • Patent number: 10050762
Abstract: A dynamic spectrum management (DSM) engine may determine the channel quality of one or more channels associated with the DSM engine when packets are not being transmitted over the channels. For example, the DSM engine may trigger a channel quality measurement on a non-primary channel on a condition that a predetermined period of time has lapsed since the last activity associated with the non-primary channel. Channel quality measurement may be triggered via a data sending event on the non-primary channel such as sending a data frame on the non-primary channel. The DSM engine may perform respective quality measurements on multiple channels and store the respective quality values in a database. Time-averaged channel qualities for the channels may be computed based on the stored quality values for computing transmit power distribution of across the channels.

  • Patent number: 9839055
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for handling the expiration of an inactivity timer. A cellular communications system may include a gateway (GW), for example, a converged gateway (CGW) or a local gateway (LGW). The GW may intercept a first message from the eNB intended for a mobility management entity (MME). The first message may include an indication to initiate removal of a first bearer and a second bearer. The first bearer may include an SI bearer associated with the eNB and the GW and/or include a Radio Bearer associated with the eNB and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRLI). The second bearer may include an S I bearer associated with the GW and a serving gateway (SGW). The GW may determine to maintain the second bearer to maintain a communication path associated with the GW and a WTRU and/or send a second message to the eNB to remove the first bearer.

  • Publication number: 20170272532
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing capture caching in a wireless network. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) or client device captures data from neighboring devices in the network and internally cache data that was traditionally cached in an edge node. The WTRU reassembles the captured data packets on a condition that the WTRU requests content associated with the captured data packets. If any segments are missing from the captured data packets, only those missing segments are retrieved from the server to repair the data. The reassembly of the data and the repair of missing segments is deferred until the data is needed by the WTRU.

  • Publication number: 20160255535
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for defining a network specialization mechanism that enables a better alignment between end users' usage profiles and their access networks. Conteni specialization of networks may be implemented as a preference o a particular SCN or network in terms of content. Such a network may, for example, cache in priority preferred content, provide preferential quality of service (QoS), or limit access to non-preferred content. A network may advertise its preference or content specialization to end users (e.g., so that end users can decide to attach to SCNs or networks with compatible preferences) and to other content networks (e.g., to influence content routing decisions or to negotiate partitioning of the specialization space). Such content specialization may apply to physical or virtual networks.

  • Patent number: 9276806
Abstract: Systems and/or methods may be used to handle failure of a HeNB/HNB, a SeGW, or an edge component. For example, actions may be performed by the edge component when a HeNB, a CGW, or a SeGW fails. The actions that may be performed when a SeGW may fail may include tearing down an IPSec tunnel to a HeNB connected to the edge component, using S1-AP signaling, a signaling interface (e.g., a connection management interface (CMI), an X2 interface, and/or a Sxx interface to inform the HeNB of the failure, and/or the like. The actions that may be performed when a HeNB may fail may include using S1-AP signaling and/or a signaling interface (e.g., a CMI) to inform a mobility management entity (MME) of the failure, and/or the like.

  • Publication number: 20150381756
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided to implement content caching. An entity running an external application (EA) may establish a connection between the EA and a centralized cloud controller (CCC) to access a service on the CCC. The EA may receive credentials for access to the service. The connection between the EA and the CCC may be established over a first interface. The EA may send to the service on the CES a query for an available small cell network (SCN) storage. The EA may receive from the service on the CES reply comprising a link to an allocated SCN storage. The EA may ingest one or more contents using the link in the allocated SCN storage. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive the cached content from an edge server in a small cell network.
