  • Patent number: 11692521
Abstract: A connection assembly is used to connect a first body to a second body. The first body includes a bore that is coaxial with a first axis, and a retainer opening that extends coaxially with a second axis. The second axis is perpendicular to the first axis and offset relative to the first axis. In addition, a portion of the retainer opening intersects the bore. The second body includes an insertion portion that is disposed in the bore, a fluid passage that extends through the insertion portion and communicates with the bore, and an outer surface of the second body has a channel. The connection assembly employs an elastic retaining pin that retains the insertion portion within the bore. The retaining pin is disposed in the retainer opening such that a portion of the retaining pin resides in the channel, and the retaining pin is self-aligning and self-retaining.

  • Publication number: 20220307454
Abstract: A fuel delivery system includes a connection assembly that reliably connects a high pressure fuel supply line to an inlet of a fuel rail. The connection assembly includes a fitting that decouples the retention function of the connection from the sealing function of the connection. The fitting is hollow and has a spherical leading end that is compressed against an inner conical surface of the fuel rail inlet to an extent that fuel rail material is displaced by the spherical leading end and a fluid-tight first seal is realized between the fitting and the conical surface of the fuel rail inlet. A weld is provided at a location spaced apart from the seal, the weld joining the fitting to the fuel rail inlet and retaining the fitting within the inlet in a compressed state, whereby the first seal is maintained.

  • Patent number: 5884607
Abstract: It has been determined that a fuel delivery system with a fuel supply line and electromagnetically actuatable fuel injection valves produce fuel oscillations during opening and closing of the fuel injection valves and therefore generates noise, which is transmitted into the passenger compartment of the vehicle and annoys the passengers. In order to damp this kind of noise, at least one elongated, hollow damping body is connected at right angles to the fuel supply line and has a closed end. The axial length of the hollow damping body corresponds to 11/2 times the wavelength of the fuel oscillation to be damped in the fuel supply line. The length of the at least one damping body can also correspond to 11/2 times the wavelength of the fuel oscillation to be damped in the fuel supply line, divided by 2 or by a multiple of 2. The fuel delivery system is particularly suited for mixture compressing internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition.
