  • Publication number: 20110185263
Abstract: In one embodiment, upstream transmission throughput in a cable network is markedly increased by moving up the US/DS frequency split by approximately an order of magnitude to a few hundred MHz. Additional transceivers (carriers) may be implemented to take advantage of the broader spectrum. A block of multiple upstream carriers (FIG. 2A) are associated to form a single logical upstream providing a high-bandwidth, in-order packet stream. The carriers have a common start time (704), pursuant to a single MAP message, and operation synchronously to transmit an upstream transmission frame (250). They may use OFDM or discrete carriers. A convergence layer (350) assembles the data from all of the upstream channels (320,322,324) for presentation to the MAC layer logic (308,310) as a single, serial, high-speed transmission from the CM.

  • Patent number: 7921361
Abstract: In one aspect, a method, apparatus, computer-readable medium and system is provided for facilitating user text generation and entry. In some illustrative embodiments, user input received from a digital keyboard and search list is used to retrieve completion candidates likely intended by the user or containing at least a portion of the user's intended text. Completion candidates may be selected using a pointing device (for example, a touch-sensitive screen) with a pointing operation that includes a gesture. A completion candidate may be used to search for more relevant completion candidates.

  • Patent number: 7773594
Abstract: In one embodiment, label distribution sessions are established between a Modular Cable Modem Termination System (M-CMTS) core and one or more remote PHYs. The label distribution sessions facilitate association of labels with either Radio Frequency (RF) channels or groups of the RF channels that extend from the remote PHYs to one or more cable modems. The labels are then used to facilitate communications between the M-CMTS core and the remote PHYs over a MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) network.

  • Publication number: 20100177784
Abstract: In one example, a resource reservation protocol is modified to allow a Modular Cable Modem Termination System (M-CMTS) core to use the protocol to reserve, for a flow, network resources as well as a Radio Frequency (RF) channel extending from the remote PHYsical interface (PHY). The modifications allow the M-CMTS core to identify parameters to be used by the edge device for selecting an available RF channel to be reserved for the flow, or to request a particular one of the RF channels. Intermediary devices operating on the DEPI can also reserve resources for the flow without being reconfigured according to the protocol modifications.

  • Patent number: 7742420
Abstract: The present invention relates to a transmission device implementing a flow control mechanism for aggregate trunks. The transmission device can be implemented as a router that includes an input for receiving aggregate traffic streams, an output for releasing the aggregate traffic streams to a destination point and a control unit capable to regulate the rate of release of packets from the output. Specifically, the flow control operation effected by the control unit is dependent on receipt of acknowledgement messages issued at the destination point, each acknowledgement message confirming the receipt of one or more particular packets at the destination point. The control unit will continuously increase the packet sending rate until a packet is lost in the network between the transmission device and the destination point. On detection of packet loss, based on the lack of one or more corresponding acknowledgement messages from the destination point, the control unit will reduce the packet sending rate.

  • Publication number: 20100135265
Abstract: In one example, an Edge Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (EQAM) communicates EQAM information to a Modular Cable Modem Termination System (M-CMTS) core using a routing protocol that is configured on a packet switched network coupling the EQAM to the M-CMTS core. The EQAM generates a routing message according to the routing protocol and inserts EQAM information, such as a description of a modulated channel extending from the EQAM, the service-group information, etc, into the routing message. The EQAM then floods the EQAM information over at least portions of a routing domain by transmitting the routing message to an adjacent intermediary device.

  • Patent number: 7716579
Abstract: A method, system and computer-readable media for supporting text entry on a personal computing device by activating automated searching to search for completion candidates which are based on a partial text entry received from a user. The completion candidates are displayed in a search list. The user may select a completion candidate from among the completion candidates in the search list to correspondingly modify the partial text entry, or the user may decline all of the completion candidates displayed in the search list and terminate the automated searching. The system may further provide a digital keyboard for use in entering text.

  • Patent number: 7681124
Abstract: In one aspect, the user can rapidly enter and search for text using a data entry system through a combination of entering one or more characters on a digitally displayed keyboard with a pointing device and using a search list to obtain a list of completion candidates. The user can activate the search list to obtain a list of completion candidates at any time while entering a partial text entry with the data entry system. When the search list is active, a list of completion candidates is displayed on a graphical user interface for the user to select from and the user can perform one of several actions. When the user deactivates the search list, the user can continue adding to or modifying the current partial text entry being entered, and may re-invoke the search list to further search for completion candidates based on the modified partial text entry.

  • Patent number: 7555706
Abstract: An industrial control user interface provides a flexible, extensible architecture for the provision of real-time process data to a state-of-the-art user interface, using MSHTML as the underlying rendering engine. The architecture of the interface provides a user interface that is designed to harness key industry standard technologies in an open, adaptable, architecture that facilitates the technological convergence of disparate HMI products. The preferred embodiments offer open display page architecture via the separation of the provision of data and server specific user interactions from the implementation of individual page elements. The only real assumption made about a page element is that it is part of the HTML display page and accessible via the Document Object Model.

  • Patent number: 7374870
Abstract: Systems and methods treat plasma carrying contaminants and cellular matter that are capable of entraining contaminants. The systems and methods separate cellular matter from the plasma by filtration, thereby removing contaminants entrained within the cellular matter. The system and methods add to the plasma a photoactive material. The systems and methods emit radiation at a selected wavelength into the plasma to activate the photoactive material and thereby eradicate the contaminant that is free of entrainment by cellular matter.
