    Abstract: Disclosed herein are front-end architectures for wireless communication that support a wide range of combinations of uplink carrier aggregation (UL CA) and simultaneous multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) functionality. Embodiments can include a separate mid-band power amplifier module and a separate high band power amplifier module, and can establish various numbers of antenna outputs from these modules to connect to available diplexers or triplexers in selected ways to cover all intended use cases. Duplication of filters, duplexers, and/or quadplexers is reduced or minimized by re-using filtering in a selectively designed MIMO receive module that supports switch-combined TX filters. A UL CA power amplifier module makes use of the MIMO receive module, as well as the re-use of available filters in the mid-band primary power amplifier module.

In some embodiments, a front-end architecture for wireless application can include a first mid-band amplifier system configured to amplify transmit and receive signals in a first mid-band. The front-end architecture can further include a second mid-band amplifier system configured to amplify at least a transmit signal in a second mid-band, such that the front-end architecture is capable of simultaneous uplink operations in the first mid-band and the second mid-band.

    Abstract: Uplink carrier aggregation architecture. In some embodiments, an uplink (UL) carrier aggregation (CA) architecture may include a first antenna port and a second antenna port. The UL CA architecture may also include a first radio-frequency (RF) circuit configured to route a first transmit (TX) signal and a first receive (RX) signal to and from the first antenna port, respectively, the first RF circuit further configured to route a second RX signal from the first antenna port. The UL CA architecture may further include a second RF circuit configured to route a second TX signal to the second antenna port to provide UL CA capability between the first and second TX signals.
