  • Patent number: 11112260
Abstract: An exemplary geospatial navigation system defines geography of a domain of navigational proficiency of a user of a mobile navigation device. The geospatial navigation system receives, from the user, user input representative of a request to provide navigational guidance from a first location located within the geography of the domain of navigational proficiency of the user, to a second location located outside the geography of the domain of navigational proficiency of the user. In response, the geospatial navigation system provides the requested navigational guidance from the first to the second location to the user. Specifically, from the first location to a boundary point of the domain of navigational proficiency, the navigational guidance includes voice guidance provided at a diminished guidance level. Between the boundary point of the domain of navigational proficiency and the second location, the navigational guidance includes voice guidance provided at a comprehensive guidance level.

  • Patent number: 11105648
Abstract: An exemplary geospatial navigation system provides, to a user of a mobile navigation device, navigational guidance along a route from a starting location to a destination location. The geospatial navigation system also identifies a first transportation mode being employed by the user to traverse the route. While the navigational guidance is being provided, the geospatial navigation system receives sensor data generated by a sensor within the mobile navigation device, and determines, based on the sensor data, that the user switches from the first transportation mode to a second transportation mode. In response to the determining that the user switches from the first to the second transportation mode, the geospatial navigation system suspends and/or engages one or more features of the navigational guidance being provided to the user. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11060875
Abstract: A device receives re-routing event data identifying a deviation from a proposed route at a particular location. The device determines, based on the re-routing event data, whether the deviation from the proposed route is a problem deviation or a planned deviation, and associates, based on determining that the deviation from the proposed route is a problem deviation, the particular location with an problematic location tag. The device determines that a route, corresponding to a request for routing information received from a navigation device, includes the particular location, and determines, based on a user profile and the problematic location tag, a particular alert level, of a plurality of alert levels, to associate with the particular location. The device detects a proximity of the navigation device to the particular location, and causes a particular alert corresponding to the particular alert level to be provided via the navigation device.

  • Patent number: 10869158
Abstract: An exemplary geospatial navigation system identifies, based on a user action report representative of a first action taken by a user with respect to a first point of interest, a second point of interest with respect to which the user has not been reported to have taken a second action. The system determines a relevance score representative of a degree of relevance of the second point of interest with respect to the first point of interest, and, based on that relevance score, updates a user-customized segment with respect to the second point of interest. The system also directs a mobile device to surface the updated user-customized segment within a user interface of a geospatial navigation application by emphasizing a representation of the second point of interest in accordance with a prominence score of the second point of interest within the user-customized segment. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10484817
Abstract: An exemplary geospatial navigation system accesses, from a mobile device used by a user, a user action report representative of a first action taken by the user with respect to a first point of interest and identifies a second point of interest for which the user has not taken an action. The system updates a user-customized segment to include the first and second points of interest and to increase their prominence scores. The system directs the mobile device to present a user interface of a geospatial navigation application in a manner that surfaces the updated user-customized segment by emphasizing representations of points of interest in accordance with respective prominence scores. Accordingly, the first and second points of interest are emphasized over additional points of interest that are not included within the user-customized segment and/or that have prominence scores lower than those of the first and second points of interest.
