  • Patent number: 9126664
Abstract: A watercraft comprising a bow, a stern, a hull, a transom, and a deck. The transom is located at the stern of the watercraft and the deck extends forward from the transom. One or more cavities are disposed through the deck adjacent to the transom wherein the cavities are each configured to receive an outboard motor. An enclosure is disposed over each of the cavities, providing a means to hide and enclose the outdoor motor. Multiple enclosures can be provided where the watercraft is powered by multiple outboard motors. The top of the enclosure includes a seating surface, providing a sun deck for boaters. The enclosures are hingeably mounted to the deck to provide selective access to the enclosure's respective cavity and motor therein. • Patent number: 9034429
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of patterning a layer formed from a fixable material such as photopolymer on a surface in a desired pattern. The method involves coating selected areas of the substrate with an adhesion promoter and subsequently coating the fixable material. The fixable material is then fixed, for instance by curing by exposure to UV radiation. The adhesion promoter is adapted to have a surface energy which is designed to adhere to the substrate or selected areas thereof and also to the fixed material such that fixed material may be easily removed from areas of the substrate not coated with adhesion promoter but retained in areas where the adhesion promoter has bonded to the substrate.

Abstract: A tray for positioning in an exit path of a bee hive comprises a base, a bee entrance end, and a bee exit end. Spaced apart side walls extend upwardly from the base. The sidewalls extend generally lengthwise between the bee entrance end and bee exit end. A plurality of posts extend upwardly from the base and are positioned between the bee entrance end and the bee exit end. The posts are generally circular in cross-section. The posts act as obstacles around which the bees must walk to reach the bee exit end from the bee entrance end.

  • Patent number: 8122978
Abstract: The invention is a drilling device for providing a conically shaped cavity in materials primarily used for anchoring systems. The drilling device is comprised of a solid shank for attachment to a drill, a reverse thread section, and a cutting head. The cutting head includes a cutting tip, clean out flutes, extendable cutting blades mounted within an internal chamber of cutting head body, and means for extending the cutting blades. The extendable cutting blades project from the cutting head body radially when the reverse thread section is driven into the internal chamber of the cutting head. The reverse thread section interacts with the means for extending the cutting blades. This may include a pair of cams that are spring biased outwardly. The cams push against the backsides of the extendable cutting blades for driving them from the cutting head body when the drill device is counter rotated.

Abstract: A vegetation wall for supporting vegetation and including at least one panel made from a porous filter media formed of a plurality of strands arranged to form an open, three-dimensional structure with interstitial spaces that provide both air and water permeability. The filter media can filter water, such as by removing nitrogen gas from the water, promoting the colonization of beneficial bacteria that aide in nitrification of the water, and balancing the pH of the water. The vegetation wall can be a free-standing wall, or attached to the side or roof of a building.

  • Patent number: RE44889
Abstract: In a liquid crystal device a substrate (1) favors at least two stable or metastable differently directed liquid crystal alignments, and switching means for causing the liquid crystal material to switch between the alignments includes means arranged for optically irradiating said device. The latter may provide linearly polarized light (3) for inducing a torque on the liquid crystal to determine the alignment direction, and may optionally cooperate with a second energy supplying means such as an electric field (V) for assisting and switching. Alternatively, the alignment of the liquid crystal may be switched by a second energy supplying means such as an electric field, the light serving to produce heat to aid the switching. Either or both energy sources may be applied locally for switching of selected areas or pixels. Energy levels at the bistable substrate may be adjusted by the use of an oligomeric additive (slippery surface).
