    Abstract: The invention relates to method for identifying an ovine with a genotype indicative of one or more altered performance traits, the method including the step of detecting, in a sample derived from the ovine, the presence of at least one allele of the CP34 simple sequence repeat (SSR) marker, or at least one allele of a marker in linkage disequilibrium (LD) with CP34, wherein the presence of the allele is indicative of the altered performance traits in the ovine.
