  • Publication number: 20060034898
Abstract: A method for using FIFRA-exempt substances (e.g., essential oils), materials having one or more such substances coated thereon and/or incorporated therein, and products that are made using these materials, are provided. The properties demonstrated by the inventive materials and products include the control or killing of, for example, decay causing organisms, human pathogens, insects, nematodes, bivalves and spats, and odor removal by destruction of bacteria, mold, fungus and yeasts.

  • Publication number: 20050171313
Abstract: Building materials based on polyisocyanate-impregnated lignocellulosic substrates provide increased strength and water, fire, insect, and fungi resistance compared to prior art building materials. At the same time, such building materials exhibit an aesthetically pleasing surface and can, therefore, be used in consumer visible applications (such as furniture) as well as in consumer invisible (such as door frames and stiles) applications.

  • Patent number: 6663129
Abstract: A motorcycle foot peg having a body portion adapted to bear the weight of a rider. The body portion is partially rotatable about a shaft, which is connected to the frame of the motorcycle. When in use, the angular position of the body portion of the foot peg can vary, so as to present a surface on which the rider's foot makes contact with a substantial portion of the surface of the body portion, not-withstanding the angle of the foot relative to the motorcycle frame.

  • Patent number: 6620459
Abstract: The disclosed invention relates to polyisocyanate-impregnated lignocellulosic substrates having improved strength, water resistance and appearance, and also to methods and systems for producing such substrates. The polyisocyanate-impregnated lignocellulosic substrate are produced by impregnating a lignocellulosic substrate with an isocyanate resin, followed by polymerization of the isocyanate resin by applying a heated liquid to the impregnated substrate.

  • Patent number: 6607794
Abstract: A light-reflecting article having an average total reflectivity of at least about 93%, e.g., at least about 95%, for light in a 400 to 700 nanometer wavelength range comprises a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer matrix, such as an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene-based matrix, in which is dispersed reflective filler particles such as rutile titania and a flame-retardant material. The flame-retardant material may contain a particulate metal oxide synergist, e.g., antimony trioxide or antimony pentoxide, and a quencher such as a brominated organic compound, e.g., bis(tribromophenoxy)ethane. The polymer matrix and filler may be selected so that their respective refractive indices and the size range of the filler particles satisfies a mathematical relationship having as a function thereof the mean freespace (vacuum) wavelength of the light range being reflected.

  • Patent number: 6550942
Abstract: Improved linear illumination sources are disclosed which utilize external, highly reflective enclosures containing one or more linear openings and thereby achieve improved source efficiency, output irradiance and/or output radiance. Such improved illumination sources may be combined with additional optical elements to produce more complex illumination systems.

  • Patent number: 6325969
Abstract: The present invention provides a porous paper product impregnated with at least one chemical species. The porous paper product can be in the form of sheets, or compressed pellets. The porous paper can be prepared from a variety of sources, including wood pulp, kenaf, flax, or hemp. The chemical species impregnating the paper react and/or diffuse out of the paper to accomplish a variety of desired results. For example, diffusion of a volatile biocidal chemical out of pores in the paper create a no-growth zone on and immediately surrounding the impregnated paper. In this manner the impregnated paper can provide a sterile environment for activities such as food packaging/storage, the treatment of illness/injury, or waste disposal.
