    Abstract: A system and method for determining a location of an equipment controller within a building including a building automation system are disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a main controller of the building automation system, a request from a mobile device to locate an equipment controller. The main controller monitors one or more sensors that are in communication with the main controller for a user-initiated communication-modifying event in response to receiving the request from the mobile device. The main controller determines a hardware address of the equipment controller in response to receiving a user-initiated communication-modifying event from one of the equipment controller and of the one or more sensors.
