  • Patent number: 5009657
Abstract: An umbilical cord cutting and clamping device is used with a fetal cord end clip to permit a physician to quickly sever an umbilical cord and securely clamp the fetal cord end. The clip is retained in the device until the cord end has been securely clamped. As the device and clip are closed on an umbilical cord, a tab formed on the central section of the clip rotates out from under a lug formed on the device to release the rear of the clip from the device.

  • Patent number: 4701148
Abstract: A valve assembly for filling balloons comprising an elongated generally tubular body member having an upper section and a lower section divided by a transverse interior wall, a radially outwardly directed flange defining a circumferentially extending channel for the bead at the mouth of a balloon, means defining at least one outlet port in the sidewall of the lower section and at least one opening in the side wall of the upper section spaced downwardly from the upper terminal edge thereof.

  • Patent number: 4690345
Abstract: A portable dispenser for rolled paper products such as paper towels, comprising a base member and a cap member. The base is disc-shaped with an inwardly dished conical inner face. A centrally located upstanding retention means for non-rotatably engaging one end of the hollow inner core of a roll of paper towels, coaxial with the disc, projects from this inner face. An upstanding flange encircles the circumference of the disc, encasing one axial end of a roll of towels. The disc-like base has a flat, smooth outer face having a centrally located pivot on which the base member will rotate. The cap member is also disc-shaped with an inwardly dished conical inner face. A centrally located upstanding retention means for non-rotatably engaging the opposite end of the hollow inner core of the roll of paper towels projects from this inner face of the cap member. An upstanding knob or handle with an optional closed top projects from the outer face of the cap.

  • Patent number: 4328639
Abstract: A damping system for damping relative rotation of a pair of members having confronting surfaces spaced apart by a primary gap or zone of capillary dimension, a viscous damping fluid in the gap contacting the confronting surfaces of said members and held in the gap by capillary attraction to provide a damping action upon rotation of the members relative to one another, the arrangement providing a non-migrating self-supporting viscous fluid damping system. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the confronting surfaces of the members defining the capillary gap or zone are in non-parallel relationship, for example, one of the confronting surfaces may be planar and the other conical wherein the rotational axis of the rotatable member is disposed on the point of the cone to provide a point contact bearing minimizing friction and centering the viscous damping material adjacent the axis of rotation to provide a more uniform controlled damping action.

  • Patent number: 4268991
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a doll having a soft flexible body, and joints constructed from rigid parts for joining soft flexible appendages to a skeleton onto which the soft flexible body is mounted. The joint comprises a ball (49,88) on one of the appendages (30,48) and skeleton (12), a socket member (58,92) on the other of the appendages and skeleton which is rotatably mounted on the ball, a projection (62,106) on one of the ball and socket member, and a slot (64,104) on the other of the ball and socket member into which the projection extends for limiting rotational movement of the appendages relative to the skeleton.

  • Patent number: 4245368
Abstract: A dust mop assembly including an upper mop head which has formed in its lower surface a continuous, peripheral, downwardly open groove. A retainer ring inserts upwardly into the groove and medially secures therewithin a plurality of yarns of suitable size for dusting purposes. In preferred embodiment, a plurality of spaced fingers project downwardly into the groove both to provide adequate clearance for yarn positioning and to secure the retainer ring to the mop head in a manner to cinch and retain the mop yarns therebetween. An elongated socket is integrally formed in the top of the mop head to receive therein a socket portion of an operating handle in a swivel connection.

  • Patent number: 4225423
Abstract: A device for use in examing fecal matter for presence of ova. The device essentially comprises a cup shaped vial open at one end and an elongated strainer adapted to nest and seat in the vial and a closure cap which may be pivotally connected to the vial. The vial has a mixing blade in its vase and the strainer has a sampler cavity at one axial end with inwardly directed fins which engage over the blade in the fully assembled position so that when a solution is added and a specimen has been accumulated in the sampler cavity of the strainer it may be oscillated relative to the container to effect good mixing and release of ova from the feces. The vial and strainer have interengaging lug and rib means to limit rotation of the strainer in the vial. The vial also is formed with a configuration of openings in a radial wall which have faces which converge downwardly to a sharp edge to ensure smooth and unobstructed flow of ova to the head section of the strainer.
