  • Publication number: 20110112293
Abstract: The present invention provides novel and advantageous processes for preparing and purifying chemical compounds such as pharmaceuticals. The processes comprise a nucleophilic substitution reaction with a moiety X wherein the leaving group L of a substrate S in the reaction is covalently attached to a purification moiety M. This concept offers a convenient and lime-saving way to purity the desired product S-X from non-reacted precursors S-L-M and by-products L-M.

  • Publication number: 20060263295
Abstract: The invention relates to a conjugate PT comprising (a) a peptide P and (b) a targeting moiety T; wherein the peptide P contains from 4 to 20 amino acid residues with optionally a single thiol moiety at the C— or N-terminus replacing one of these amino acid residues, and including a complexing amino acid sequence comprising (iv) a tridentate or tetradentate planar chelator containing a ligand backbone defined by a perimeter containing a single sulfur donor atom, two or three non-sulfur donor atoms, and intervening atoms between the donor atoms; and (v) a stabilizing sidechain comprising a further donor atom, the further donor atom being covalently linked to the ligand backbone of the planar chelator through two or three intervening atoms, provided that said further donor atom is neither the nitrogen nor the oxgen atom of a peptide bond and if said further donor atom is part of a heterocyclic ring, no more than one of the intervening atoms can be part of that ring; and a radioactive metal complexed to the donor

  • Publication number: 20060190017
Abstract: Surgical methods of and kits for applying and stabilizing a mass of fibrin sealant or platelet concentrate at the site of surgical attachment of an implantable medical device to effect hemostasis to stem internal bleeding at the site of surgical attachment are disclosed. A mass of fibrin sealant or platelet concentrate is applied onto a porous fabric, whereby the mass is supported in the interstices or pores of the fabric, and the supported mass is applied against the site of high pressure blood leakage. The supported mass achieves hemostasis as it does not wash away from the site. The present invention is particularly useful to effect hemostasis at sutures and suture holes extending through thin-walled tissue valves and grafts when such tissue valves or grafts are sutured in place, particularly at high blood pressure sites as at the valve annulus of the aortic valve or the aorta.
