  • Patent number: 7864773
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method and device for automatically configuring a virtual circuit (VC) of a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) device and linking it to a software interface. In one embodiment, the CPE device configures its VC by obtaining a virtual path identifier (VPI) and virtual circuit identifier (VCI) from a first traffic bearing cell and linking its new VC to a protocol. In another embodiment, the method comprises receiving a cell and checks the cell to determine if it is of a particular type bearing a VPI and a VCI corresponding to the VC. Such types of cells may be used for self auto-configuration because they contain the information necessary to accomplish the self auto-configuration.

  • Patent number: 7620051
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method and device for automatically configuring the Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) of a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and link it to a software interface. In one embodiment, the CPE configures its new PVC by obtaining a VPI and VCI from a first traffic bearing cell and linking its new PVC to a protocol specific to DSL. In another embodiment, the method comprises receiving an ATM cell and checking the ATM cell for an OAM Fault Management (F5) type cell. The OAM type cell allows the PVC to be configured by obtaining a VPI and VCI from the OAM type cell.

  • Patent number: 6775232
Abstract: A system is disclosed that provides voice, signaling and data communications between customer premises equipment (CPE) and network equipment using a digital subscriber line. If the trained rate of the line is sufficient to meet bandwidth requirements for all communication channels, the system schedules cells for transmission according to the asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) traffic management standard. If the trained rate of the line is insufficient to meet bandwidth requirements for all communications channels, the system schedules cells for transmission using a combination of priority queuing and the ATM traffic management standard.
