Patent number: 9239995Abstract: A system and method for generating vehicle drive cycles. Information describing a path of travel and a vehicle are received from a user. A detailed representation of the path of travel is obtained. Road condition information for segments of the path of travel is obtained, and the path of travel is verified as being traversable by the described vehicle. This information is used to generate a drive cycle profile, which contains at least the simulated path traversed by the vehicle, the speed of the vehicle along segments of the path, and any ambient conditions taken into account when predicting the speed of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2011Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: PACCAR INCInventors: Kevin S. Patent number: 6599946Abstract: The present invention relates to blowing agent compositions for polymeric foams that contain carbon dioxide and a hydrofluorocarbon having a boiling point of 14° C. or higher and lower than about 120° C. The present invention also relates to processes for preparing polymeric foam using such blowing agent compositions, foamable polymer compositions containing such blowing agents, and polymeric foams containing such blowing agent compositions. Suitable blowing agent combinations include: (a) a composition containing carbon dioxide and at least one hydrofluorocarbon having a boiling point of 30° C. to about 120° C. that is essentially free of other low boiling ethers and hydrocarbons; (b) a composition containing greater than 50 weight-percent carbon dioxide and at least one hydrofluorocarbon having a boiling point of 14° C. or higher to about 120° C.; and (c) carbon dioxide and one hydrofluorocarbon having a boiling point of 14° C. or higher and lower than about 120° C.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2002Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Assignee: The Dow Chemical CompanyInventors: John D. Patent number: 6257118Abstract: An apparatus controllably moves a moveable element within a hydraulic motor. A lever device establishes an operator command signal indicative of a desired velocity and direction of movement of the moveable element. A position sensor senses the position of the moveable element and produce a position signal. An electronic controller receives the operator command signal and position signal, determines the actual velocity of the moveable element, and determines a limit value in response to the actual velocity of the moveable element. Additionally, the controller compares the operator signal magnitude to the limit value and produces a flow control signal in response to the comparison. An electrohydraulic controller receives the flow control signal and responsively controls the movement of the moveable element.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: R. Carl Wilbur, John D. Duffy, Douglas W. Koehler

Patent number: 6131061Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventing underdigging of a work machine, which may occur if the implement digs under or too close to the work machine, is disclosed. An underdigging boundary or a space of allowable implement movement is established relative to the work machine. The position of the implement is sensed, and the movement of the implement is controllably prevented from underdigging the work machine.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1997Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Lee R. DenBraber, John D. Duffy, Mark R. Hawkins, Steven J. Zmuda

Patent number: 5737993Abstract: An apparatus for controllably moving a work implement is disclosed. The implement is connected to a work machine and is moveable in response to operation of a hydraulic cylinder. The apparatus includes an operator controlled joystick. A joystick position sensor senses the position of the joystick and responsively generates an operator command signal, which is indicative of a desired velocity. A velocity sensor senses the velocity of the lift cylinder and tilt cylinders and responsively producing respective cylinder velocity signals. A microprocessor receives the cylinder velocity and operator command signals, determines the difference between the actual and desired cylinder velocity, and responsively produces an electrical valve signal in response to the velocity difference. An electrohydraulic valve receives the electrical valve signal, and controllably provides hydraulic fluid flow to the hydraulic cylinder in response to a magnitude of the electrical value signal.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1996Date of Patent: April 14, 1998Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Cobo, John D. Duffy

The implement is connected to a work machine and is moveable in response to operation of a hydraulic cylinder. The apparatus includes an operator controlled joystick. A joystick position sensor senses the position of the joystick and responsively generates an operator command signal. An implement position sensor senses the position of the work implement and responsively produces an implement position signal.
